Going On Steam Anything I Need To Know?

heh gotta do it
Aight, STEAM is now mandatory for leagues and such. So the OSS/DSSG server will have to do the switch.

I havent done the switch yet because all I heard was that STEAM was really bugged with Natral-Selection.

So before I do the changes, what are the keys to make it succesful and avoid any type of bugs...

ps: I was hoping I would find a topic about how to steam ur NS server with success...

CAL is still using WON till it dies for NS. So I wouldn't switch if I were you.

Wait for offical support from the NS team before converting your server, don't be hasty and foolish.

Frankly Steam isn't ready for league play especially for NS. My advice to you is to set it up and get it working, but keep using WON until Steam improves radically, and a Steam patch is released for NS.

Steam is working much better than it was, but frankly it is still not working very well at all. Steam only looks good compared to what it was when it was first released.

Don't delete or modify your old Half-Life installation. Install Steam, then proceed with the following steps.

    1) Start up Steam and choose "Half-Life" from the games menu once. You don't need to play Half-Life, just let Steam set it up to play.

    2) Copy your "ns" folder from your old Half-Life installation into your new "Steam/SteamApps/yourfrigginemailaddresshere@outtolunch.paininthe@$$/half-life" directory.

    3) Copy the "fmod.dll" and "IFC22.dll" from your old root "Half-Life" folder and put them in the above directory (you actually only need one of those two files for NS, but I can't remember which one, so copy them both, the other one you need for Firearms...).

    4) Look for the "Fix Several Major Steam Issues!" thread in the Tech Support forum and follow the instructions there.

    [sarcasm]Simple wasn't it?[/sarcasm]

The other alternative is to wait for Steam to start working a bit better, and especially for the NS team to release a Steamy patch for NS.
