<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=100' target='_blank'>The NS mapping FAQ</a>

And for the "bit" more experienced mappers:

Good luck!
Of course it hasn't been up for a while...

Don't like Valve Hammer editor ? Try QuArK:
<a href='http://www.planetquake.com/quark/' target='_blank'>QuArK homepage</a>
nearly anything odd or not can be found here also has a great links section
<a href='http://articles.thewavelength.net/' target='_blank'>The Wave Length</a>
This tutorial walks you through:
VHE setup
Creating Brushes (walls)
Applying textures (including special textures like water and transparents)
Lights
and Compiling (though I suggest compiling outside of VHE)
<a href='http://www.geocities.com/adam_tebbutt_mckern/ns.html' target='_blank'>Mapping book for n00bs</a>

(Complie errors, and helpful fixes)
