The Leak Is The Real Reason Hl2 Is Delayed

Ok so the HL2 source got leaked. There was an interesting thread on the subject in Off-topic before it got phased away somewhere (Prolly mod forums) and it contained a post by myself that the true reason HL2 got delayed was because of the source code leak.
[myg0t]t0y and another myg0t member are claiming responsibility on the leak.
Let's look at some dates:
<b>Sept 11: </b>Gabe Newell's email address becomes compromised. Someone else is using it. For about the next week "there appeared to be suspicious activity" on Gabe's email account.
<b>Sept 19: </b>AROUND this time, somebody managed to make a partial (If not full) copy of the HL2 source code.
<b>Sept 22: </b>Rumours start trickling down that Half-life 2 is delayed...
<b>Sept 23: </b>The delay is officially announced and confirmed by Valve
It could be very possible that one major contributing factor to the HL2 delay was in fact the leak.
Why would Valve be shoving Sept 30 down our throats if they couldn't get it out on time? Hell, just release the latest version and patch the hell out of it after the release. It's been known to happen.
They had that date written in stone. In Nerd Kingdom, 'HL2 on thine 30th of September' was the 11th Commandment....
Now for the sake of a good ol fashion arguement... you may be saying "It was going to be delayed anyway", and this may be true. Many sources stated HL2 needed to have gone gold on the 15th to meet the Sept 30 deadline. However because Valve had developed Steam, 'Sept 30' could have meant a Steam only release (Thus Valve could have worked on HL2 pretty much up until the last day) of HL2 and thus debunking the gone gold 'deadline'.
So what do you think?
Did the leak cause the delay?
Will the leak cause futher delays?
Do you want to go and kill myg0t even more now if they did indeed leak it?
PS: Don't post screenshots or links to the source code. Not even the screenshots t0y was hosting (Which are now done anyways)

It's highly unlikely that their publishing deal permits them to release on Steam first.

That's the least it will cause.
I agree that it's a fascinating subject and very worth discussing, but please do it elsewhere. I suggest the forums on www.halflife2.net.
