Ahh. But you're forgetting, you just eliminated any consequences in the future... You would be saying "Why didn't I just give back the money ?" when the company ruins your chances from getting a job when you get a criminal record for stealing a large amount of money from the business.
The right thing is always the best thing to do. You may feel shorted now, but it was the wisest thing to do.
Also, why do you feel shorted for giving back something that wasn't yours ? Someone has a pretty poor mindset right now, although, I do understand you're short on money, good luck to ya' finding a new job.

Or not. And you guys stop acting like cynical children. Regardless of what he does, or whatever it may be which may not meet your standards, you know very little of all of his circumstances.
There are many things that shape and develop ones life, I doubt that he is purposely in lack of money. Let him run his life, and for now, stop trying to make it more complicated by offering up petty criticisms. Lets lift people up instead of bringing them down.
However, it is hard to be a conscientious of other people's circumstances, I challenge you to do so.
i am trying to lift him up. im offering him good, solid suggestions to improve his lifestyle and living standards. you think they arent valid?
and there are different ways to have an effect on someone... positive or negative reinforcement, for eg. i chose negative, in the hopes that he will realise what a loser he sounds like, and improve his life!
no offence eediot but I've yet to see calling someone a 'loser' actually make them do anything positive =s
Something more constructive yet still in the negative realms would be describing how my grandmother (the one I called 'nana' =3 ) died a slow choking death that ended with a shuddering death rattle, or the current state of my aunt loiuse who's coughing up blood at the moment and can barely walk without help.

Oh, come on. Everybody who smokes has been told that cigarettes kill you, and they're still stupid enough to smoke. good lord, pure meanness incarnate... I'm glad I don't know some of you IRL... and he never even whined -- he just told us about it so we could share in the irony, talk about honesty, and maybe give him a warm wish or two...
Esuna, don't worry, SOME of us know what it's like to be broke and incomeless
I might suggest the same thing to you. I encourage you to stop being critical, and perhaps, re-read what you write and think about what it means to other people.
For all purposes, I must disagree about esuna whining, and what a "loser" he sounds like. In fact, I would claim that you're the "loser" who is trying to act like a judge without any rhyme or reason.
I'd rather be around a person who is "whiny", then someone who is cynical. It's easy to critisize and easy to make your own little stupid abstract of his life and generalize it, and judge him.
Just so you know, cigarettes don't directly give you cancer per se, but they do greatly, greatly, greatly increase the chances of getting it. They are also addictive, which makes it increasingly worse for your health. If you can keep a maximum of say 3-4 cigarettes a day or less, you can still live a pretty healthy life. The problem is that people start smoking many packs a day, which is extremely unhealthy, and is a poor decision ( Something you need to worry about esuna).
I try to help people out on forums, who are doing bad things to themselves. I am happy. And I am healthy, plus I don't do stupid things like smoke!
You wouldn't happen to be passive-aggressive, would you? Oh wait, no, you're just religious
But seriously, If i smoked and was told I was a loser for smoking, repeatedly and with conviction, I'd take a good long look at myself.
You can't prove that your method works, and neither can I. Unless you can, in which case whoops.
I don't judge or hate people if they smoke, i just hate the act itself. Course, I don't want to derail this into some sort of weird anti-smoking topic or anything so I'll just leave it at that =3
Happy, I doubt it, healthy, probably. Good ? Not a chance.
You've demonstrated some pretty poor behavior, and you're trying to dig yourself and justify what you've done with whatever reasons.

I'll be blunt, if thats needed, I don't like judgemental people much. You know, people who are hypocrites, it's pure foolishness. To judge someone who has a speck in their eye when you have a log in your own.
Your morals are at best, highly subjective. You critisize and bring people down, yet that to you, is of no consequence, but smoking ? You're behaving as if there's nothing worse. If you ask me, smoking is inconsequential, even though it's not healthy, I'd rather deal with my attitude, my behavior, my heart. Now, I will say that repeatedly, and with conviction, now take a long look at yourself.
In real life, you may be hesitant to behave like this, but the lack of true consequence reveals your true feelings, do yourself a favor, and shape up.
It's funny that you jump straight at me for not having a job and saying this is my fault. How about i let you in a little on my situation. As of last month, i quit my job. I got a place at university and i am now a student studying to get a degree in Graphic Design. I have smoked for years and i lack the will power to quit, i admit that.
Allow me to quote Bill Hicks, it's quite relevant... "You go up to smokers coughing? You sadist! Do you go up to guys in wheelchairs and say 'come on, i'll race ya!'? " (EDIT: Yes, i'm aware this is probably wrong, i'm trying to look for the exact quote. But the meaning's the same.)
So i ask you this, whilst you're calling me a loser, are you actually doing something worthwhile with your life? If you answer yes, i might be inclined to take your opinions seriously, otherwise, try getting off of my back when you're nothing but ignorant.

QUOTE

But seriously, If i smoked and was told I was a loser for smoking, repeatedly and with conviction, I'd take a good long look at myself.

And if people told you shooting yourself in the head was a good idea, would you consider it?

Who cares what your opinion(s) of smoking is? Do you really need some government agency to make descisions for you? **** quanity of life...give me quality...let me live how I enjoy it, however unhealthy, however "wreckless", however shrt that life may be.
Personal responsibility should take prescedence over public opinion...the fact that the opposite is true is one of the greatest faults of our society. Choices are and will always be made on an individual level, and when we put the responsibility for those descisions into the hands of the public, we remove the accountability from the individual, and reinforce the idea that we arent personaly responsible for our own descisions...wether they effect others or not.
Everyone of us is aware of the negative effects of smoking. Noone is saving the world by repeating them, only playing sheep to the propaganda machine.
