Ok, the problem has to do with the skin. It looks very weird and disconnected. Is there a way to smooth everything out so it isnt like that? And would it help if i gave the ms3d file? I'm extremely new to this and the skinning tutorial was a little confusing. I think my problem may lie in the model itself though, because the shading of the white model looked the same w/o the colors. what do i do?

ok your problem IS within the model itself. you havent done the shading groups. you want to do is select all the faces that should be in the same light (for example, the sides, then go into the groups tab, and with assign being selected in the smoothing groups area, assign it to a certain number. you can have up to 32 groups, but you should only need maybe 3, 1 for the top/botom 1 for the front/back and 1 for the sides. if you need anymore help just post and ill make some pictures to help.

Word of advice, A trigger section and safety will make the gunn look 10 times better.
And so will a good skinner.

I'll add the trigger guard and a safety, and then could you skin my gun? Any colors would be fine, a smoky color would probably be better than that awful blue. It was also supposed to have a little metal plate attached to the side but mine looked horrible. I'll upload the model in like 10 minutes.
