I have a problem playing NS where i cannot switch weapons or use chat. i can press a number for a weapon, but once i click to select the weapon choice, it just goes back to the primary weapon.
like if im a marine i start with the primary gun with the 50 round clip. i press 2 to switch to pistol, then click. but it goes back to the primary gun. i cannot switch to knife, or use any different attacks when i play alien.
when i chat i press the chat key, type my message. it lets be do that much. but once i press enter to send my message, it doesnt ever show up on my screen, and no body sees it.
i have tried setting all keys to defaults, quiting, rebooting, etc. ive had this problem for days now. i dont have this problem when playing counter strike, only NS. im wondering if the fix to this is a command in the console. like i remember when i couldnt straife and go forward in CS, i would type in cl_sidespeed 9999. is there a similiar fix to my problem with NS ? or just what is the fix?
one last seperate question. is it normal in NS to not be able to both go forward and straife at same time (like go diagnol), like in CS? i cannot in NS.

when ever you ask for help PLEASE give us full system specs (it realy does help and it is kinda said to do so in the webbed threads)
lets see, does this hapen when you JOIN a server? or always?
if it is only when you make a server just go join a server and play (or atempt to remove metamod and such as one has a tendency to bork NS)
ok, if it is always try this out, download the file attachmen.
Stick it in your NS dir
open up a LAN game of NS and type (in the console)
exec stuff.cfg
now join either team and press p afew times.
build anytihng you want (cheats are on)
press the number keys they should instantly switch you to weapons now
if not use the mouse wheel.
