<div class="IPBDescription">crashes HL?</div> first off, I searched and didn't see this problem, so here I go:
I've been playing fine on my GeForce4 ti4200 128, except it was going black when I turned off vsync or played just about any other game (BattleField 1942, C&C Generals, WC III, etc). So, I bought this ATI Sapphire RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS 256MB DDR AGP8X TVO/DVI (OEM) <--copy/pasted from the site I got it from. I plugged it in, deleted everything nvidia had installed, downloaded the newest catalyst drivers, installed them, and then restarted. Brought up my comp, tried to play NS through HLSW, doesn't even get to the console screen (got to "LOADING") before the error saying it's going to be closed. I figured that it might be HLSW, so I tried in-game server browser, got just as far. Tried CS, got just as far, tried steam, it pulled up the initial game window and then crashed. I reinstalled halflife and NS, same problem. Reinstalled the drivers, same problem. Any ideas?
Comp specs:
- AMD Athalon XP2600+
- On-board sound
- ATI Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256
- 1024MB Corsair PC2700 DDR
- Windows XP Pro
- Running in OpenGL at 1600x1200 (always have)
- Running off of Half-Life: Game of the Year Edition
