    A bit old topic, but about the first picture:
    In quake2 if you modified gl_modulate value, which adjusts the brightness you might get something like that.
    For example, gl_modulate 9999999:

    It screws up the lighting somehow. Reverses it or sumthing. o.-

    lol..at the time the hl engine was codet the q2 source was still way to expensive.. valve took some q1 coding freaks and licensed the q1 engine. some years later they have build a complete new engine on top of the q1 code. they changed more and more of it till there was nearly nothing left in hl from q1..just a few lines of code and console commands are the same.. theres nothing q2 in it.. theres more of q1 in this 5 % of the remaining code..even to less space to write one time the word "quake2" in it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
