Dune 2

Ahh, good old times.
Well, I'm just playing Dune 2 (not 2000) again and am impressed. The game is still highly addictive and playable, the music is awesome, the graphics are great. And now I realise, the game was highly advanced for its time, with the action music, the RTS money system and buildings/units, voice acting and so on...

The only thing that bothers me (and did back then too, although not as much) is that you can't select multiple units at once... But who cares! It's still a great game (and still the best RTS of them all, in my humble opinion).

What are your memories/likes/dislikes of the game?

Dune 2 is a landmark in the RTS genre, and to me, side by side with Warcraft 2, one of the greatest.

But i totally agree, the lack of ability to select multiple units has always sucked.

You must have played a different Dune2 to me, the one I played didn't have voice acting or action music.

Still a great game though. The game that spawned C&C and began RTS games

Not at all. I installed it from the original disks and it contains music (and the battle music - when somebody attacks you - you must have that in your version...) and voices. I discovered the voices and better sound effects, when I played the game with a better sound card some years ago...

Now, I don't get the voices or those sound effects, because today's sound cards just don't get recognised...

Yeah, thats why you've to keep a retro card handy for the old school stuff.

At most I only play the Megadrive/Genesis version, but a friend has/had the Amiga one.

And then I go to sleep and *flash*. My imagination starts taking over my mind again... I would so play a Battlefield 1942 Dune 2 modification, with the spice harvesters, cary-alls and everything included...

Dune 2...Multiple Doom Missile strikes. oh yeah, that's why I would build 10 Harkonnen Palaces.
