A Request...

yeah, i know making a map is hardd work but i have a request for a map.

Yeah i know it does not fit with the NS theme, but for the hell of it, why not make like an office building as a map?

kinda like 10 floors high, has a nice natural night sky, maybe be able to go outside the building, put a hive in the basement, one in the cafeteria, another on the roof. Marine start in the lobby, working elevators and stairways, office cubicals with res nodes in them, etc.

    Commanders would not be able to command. This might work for a NS:C map though.

    oh crap, you make a good point, unless you can make the commander mode to be viewing the different floors next to one another, like in the fashion of

    i jsut want that map..i always liked office buildings and schools and anything thats more realistic in the sense of maps for fps games

    Oooooooohhhhhh I'm gonna make my school as a map!!!! Cafitera hive Gymnasium Hive and computer lab hive. The marine start could be Ms. Platt's Physics room!!!! I'm so going to start working on this right now.

    Hrm.. to make it more NS like make it a trade ship with stores. Not crappy walmart wannabe stores, but a vendor here and there with a stripmall area where most of the shops are locked shut or rubble blocks them and have a few you can go into. Keep with the hightech feel and be original with the products sold. Have a crew/ visitor hotel type area and the normal facilities associated with so many people.

    Most people making 'real life' maps don't realise that real life buildings have way too much visible at the same time. Hence too much to draw, hence the map chugs/ dies entirely. You would be very lucky to go to a school that has nice 90 degree corners, vis blockers and very little that lets vis through.

    Before you make a map of your school, save yourself some time and become familiar about how VIS makes a map faster and what it needs to work. Then modify your school so that it has the nescessary properties (long hallways with many rooms off to either side are out of the question)

    what about having each floor next to eachother but out of sigerange of eachother and have elevators that teleport the players ie an up and a down elevator with a button the teleports u but the doors close really fast behing u b4 u can reach the button so peaple cant see u disappear.

    Hehe, concerning the school thing. A few friends and I are actually going to use the LAYOUT of our school for designing a proper NS map, but not the textures or anything. Hopefully ns_occidio will be underway soon *layout stages atm*

    JezPuh: This kind of layout won't work for normal maps because of buildings + siege...
