Light Entity Trouble

<div class="IPBDescription">light entity crashes map</div> I have a map with a single room in it. In this room i placed a single light entity using the entity tool in hammer 3.5. There is no other lighting (entity or texture). The only changes made to the entity are in the rgb Brightness values. The map is compiled with ZHLT in the normal manner. When i test the map, it lags when you approach the position of the light entity and may crash.

The lighting guides that i have seen do not explain this. Can someone provide an explanation or suggestions for things to check? If anyone has a link to a particularly good lighting resource that too would be appreciated.

    Hmm that's a new one...

Don't suppose you could post a compile log?

I'm assuming this room is a big box, and the light entity is at the same height as the player? Do you notice the lag if you move while look at the light, or if you are moving towards the light but facing a different direction? If the compile log checks out fine, I'm perhaps thinking there maybe something in the light's properties... Or a bug we haven't found yet...

I had not saved the crashing version of the map, but the map with that entity deleted. Now that i have gone back and added a light entity with the same properties it no longer crashes. At the time i had tried deleting and adding new lights in various places, restarting hammer, doing it over again- all with the same result. This is very annoying. I don't like errors that i'm not able to replicate (especially those that i found!) but there we have it. Perhaps it was system weirdness at the time. On the brighter side (no pun intended), at least my problem is gone. Thanks for your feedback.
