Apple releases iTunes for Windows
Apple has released a Windows (2000 and XP) version of the iTunes music player. Windows users can now use the Apple music store.

Personally I rather like iTunes on my parent's iMac, it has a well organized library and makes burning a music CD so trivial even my sister could figure it out. Never tried the Apple music store, but I hear good things.

If your going to post, don't be braindead about it. I don't want to see any "Apple Sux0rs lolol!!!1" posts.

I would tend to like it, but the 99cents/song doesn't make it much different from buying cds. I'd like to see it around 60-70. Also, I heard iTunes doesn't have an impressive collection, but I may be mistaken. Almost no one I know has a Mac.

my friend has an iPod, it beats every CD player I can think of. It's got a good storage, good selection, good battery life.

Personally, I'd like to see Mac take on a second mousebutton, and after that, persuade a ton of developers from windows to Mac. Mac would be great if it could get better graphics cards, and find a way to have itself be upgradable. The new MacG5 is downright amazing in every application area, so...ya

You can plug multibutton mice into a Mac and it will work automatically.

Macs can use the latest NVidia and ATI cards, and are just as easy to add/change hardware in as a PC (unless you have an iMac).

Good save with the edit Teflon. But it will happen, every day more people (and companies) are looking at alternatives to Windows. It always good to have more than one choice.

I like Mac's OS system too, though it does take a little learning.

For those who don't know, iTunes is not just a music service. It offers:

fully-featured audio player

extremely smooth interface and file management system

built-in mp3 encoding software

built-in CD burning software

downloadable music at $0.99 each

And that's just off the top of my head. The CD ripping and burning is phenomenally simple - you can set it up so that when you place a CD in the tray, iTunes automatically rips it to mp3 and stores the files, properly labeled, in the appropriate (and dynamically updated) folder.

It's a brilliant program; I already love it. Never thought I'd replace WinAmp. (:

    1.)Winamp
    2.)Winamp is nice to use
3.)Free encoders all over the net
    4.)WinXP has built in burning
    5.)Download music for FREE....

Don't ask me why I don't know but I hate it.

Plus the Apple Optical mouse sucks (My hands are too big and as a result I keep clicking the mouse when moving it forward)

You can't *THINK* Macs excel in multimedia... they plain old rock.

However, even if Macs were the best machines for everything on earth, I'd never get something as ugly as one of those POSs.

Actually my friend got it for about 70$. Doesn't skip, doesn't have to carry around a giant CD-wallet, music is automatically organized, everything is easy. Heck, his friend's girlfriend Claire (a total ditz) can use it.

To all you people who hate MacOS but don't know why: Its either because you're not comfortable in an unfirmilliar OS (OMG TEH ICONZ IZ ON DA RGHIT!@!!), or you were brought up during the time when the Mac Vs Wintel flamewars were still going on and have 'mac == bad' idea engrained in your head.

Ugly? have you even seen a Mac made after 1995? Those things are called 'sexy' so often its kinda creepy.

Anyway, all this talk about MacOS is getting offtopic. From now on, if you have nothing to say regarding iTunes then please don't post.

Rather than start a new topic, I thought I'd just dig this one up instead.

a recent Apple press release says that one million copies of iTunes have been download in 3.5 days since its release. In that same period of time, one million songs have also been sold.

Ah yes... thats why there are so many stupid posts out there, people not reading the thread before posting. Also, you'll notice that the thread is about iTunes for windows and not about the Mac, or Apple. Especially when your post has no supporting facts. Do you really think a freshmen quality paper you wrote for god-knows-what class is going to convince anyone that Apple sucks? Also, the post I reference was a mere two posts behind yours, you could at least make an effort to read the page your posting on.

I havent tried OSX, and I havent seen quartz in action, so my judgement of Mac may be outdated. But in my experience...OS9 sucked, macs suck and crash too much. It wasnt any easier then windows as macaholics always claim. I only started usin computers about 5 years ago, and used both pretty equallly from the begining. Mostly for graphics too, wich Macs hold the greater part of the market. Those first iMacs really sucked.

Apples image has changed alot scince I last used them. Aqua was/is the most elegant UI ever, far superior to the nasty fat **** XP default crap. The new brushed metal G4 case is beautiful, the wide-flatscreen moniters are incredible, as is thier overall use of the "glass-plastic" design. Stricktly from a design standpoint...they cant be beat, functionality however, is another question.

As far as iTunes...I tried it, while it looked great, and functioned fairly intuitively, I just didnt care for it. Not sure why really, just didnt do it for me...a few things a few things werent to my linking, and there wasnt an obvious and simple way to change it. Mostly I need to have some kinda Taskbar controls. I do use the iTunes XP Theme though.

I'm curious to know what it is you didn't like about iTunes, besides the 'taskbar controls' (just what exactly do you mean by that?). Personally I use Zinf, but before I found that I was practically begging for an iTunes for Windows (which it turns out I can't run anyway, since its 2k/xp only ).
