Sg2games Talking **** ?

this is a quote from the savage game forums

"Natural Selection is a Half-Life Mod, meaning that it uses the same restricting Half-Life Engine. S2Games has developed the SilverBack Engine to create an entirely new genre, Real Time Strategy Shooter.

For Natural Selection, only the marines have one commander whereas, in SAVAGE, both the Tribe of Man and the Beast Horde have a commander to build up the base and lead his/her tribe to ultimate supremacy with unique strategy.

So really, NS doesn't compare to SAVAGE. NS is simply a FPS Half-Life Mod with only 1 person having limited command abilities and SAVAGE offers both teams the authority to strengthen their tribe with a plethora of structures, weapons, and units as well as the power to dictate advanced tactics for the team to win.

Welcome to the forums Tals!"

it can be found here

make what you will, it seems that they are talking ****!

Whatever they are talking, they do have the right to defend thier own game. If it was mine I wouldnt lay down and bow to ns just because its a great game. My game wouldnt sell very well if I did that would it

i sitll find it rather immature of a supposedly repsectable game company. This is not politics, i always believed that the gaming community is the last bastion of civility in the global market, i guess sg2 proves me wrong.

Wow, those guys have no clue of what NS is.

For starters, the fact that both sides don't have a comm is a gameplay desicion, not a technical one.

Proof: MvM is in the works.

Ok, I've been playing NS for a year now. I love everything about the game. In the spirit of competition, I decided that I owed it to myself to give Savage a shot. So, onto the TacticalGamer.com public Savage server I went. And I played a few games, big and small, all the while comparing it to Natural Selection in the back of my head. Sure, I gave it a fair chance, but it's not reasonable for someone coming from one game to not compare the new game to the old. And I tend to be a "one game at a time" kinda guy, so my evaluation of these competing titles was darwinism in action, of sorts. Only the strong would survive.

Having played both games, I must tell you that Savage is a weak game in comparison to Natural Selection.

First, the audio. Man, ya just don't know how good you have it until you lose it. The first thing I noticed when I started playing Savage was how irrelevant the audio was during a battle. In Natural Selection, I can tell what you are, where you are, how fast you're moving, how quickly you're healing, what upgrades you're using, how close you are to me, whether or not you're injured, and who knows what else... JUST BY LISTENING. I just didn't get the audio satisfaction from playing Savage.

Environment. Savage is pretty and all, but I felt like I was.. well.. in a game. lalala kill a monkey... lalala kill a human... lalala kill a structure. There's feeling like you're "in A game" and then there's feeling like you're "in THE game." With Natural Selection, the lighting, sound, textures, and beautiful maps bring me closer to the suspension of disbelief, closer to believing that my performance determines my life or death (ala plot). It's just more fun.

Voicecomm. Where I come from (tacticalgamer.com), communication and teamwork is everything. I give regular hell to our regulars who can't seem to make voicecomm happen for one reason or another. You just can't expect to share critical information and foster real-time teamwork by slamming your message out on the keyboard. It won't happen. Sure, Savage gives you the pre-defined binds for "Voicecomm," but they don't compare to "talking" to your team. Sure, TacticalGamer has a TeamSpeak server with a channel devoted to Savage, so we can all talk to each other, but the odds of seeing that kind of forethought and organization on your random public Savage server are negligible, which means that you're back to typing teammates and obliterated outposts. No thanks.

I'll give Savage more time. Those s2games guys and gals have worked really hard, and I'm all about seeing the growth of these FPS/RTS hybrids as a genre. But unless something earth-shattering happens, my first love will remain with NS.

My very short 2 cents about Savage.... Compared to NS ... well you cant... not even close... theres very little intensity, sounds are weak.... graphics well... same... weak... Server administration interface sucks...

You may notice in that thread there is a guy called "Avenell" who has been waving the flag for NS - strangely enough, Marine01's last name also happens to be Avenell... Coincidence? I think not.

That S2 guy who had the gall to make those statements about NS has since faded from the discussion. The NS people won out - they are DEFINATELY not the first people to make a RTS/FPS hybrid, and he had no right to A)claim that Savage was the first, and B)Insinuate that the NS team had somehow made an inferior product.

In the world of retail and competition - you are only allowed to talk yourself up, you are NOT allowed to try and drag the competition down in advertising.
