why would i want to update random drivers that are working fine?

well my vid drivers were all that i thought needed the new drivers ... fps up by 10-20

It's a sham. I just updated my Video drivers and Scanned again, "Update Available!" Wrong.

It tells me my video drivers are not updated, yet I have 45.23 Detonators? Is there an update I dont know about?

No - but they will only tell you an update is available if you dont pay - they wont actually link you or let you download it off them.

I updated drivers once and it gave me worse performance, and the 4x.xx aren't as stable as the last 3x.xx.
