<div class="IPBDescription">loading times really long?</div> Is there some reason it takes really long for joins/mapchanges and their loads to complete in steam (compared to WON)? Does this happen in all steam apps, or just some?

Err...I don't think you did it right. Its twice as fast as WON for me. Maybe your PC just has to get accustomed to it.

It seems ok speed of rme. About the same as it was on WON

It is because Steam takes up more resources than HL itself, so when HL is trying to load something it has to compete for your cpu with Steam, which is doing... well, whatever it is that Steam does...

My steam takes longer when it's a mod that was not nativelly installed, i.e. Day of Defeat, OpForce and Counter-Strike because I had Steam download and install the mod. Which it does, at a really fast speed. I got CStrike in 20 minutes, DoD in 10, Op4 in 3.
