Dark, Dark, Dark...

<div class="IPBDescription">Can't see a damn thing when I play NS...</div> Okay, here goes:

I have a crappy old monitor that is incredibly dark, so I have to control panel->display->settings tab->advanced and adjust the brightness, gamma, and contrast on my monitor to be able to play games at a visibility that is tolerable.

With the video adjusted, I can play CStrike, The Specialists, and most other mods just fine. Trouble is, whenever I start NS, those video settings are reset, leaving me with an extremely dark monitor. I have gone to the /gamedir/ns/config.cfg file and adjusted the brightness and gamma, and it worked, for one game. Then my computer froze, I restarted it, and its back to dark, dark, dark, even if I edit the config.cfg file...

*sigh*... Help?
