Pack progress going well - Red runner is all optimised up, now I'm doing the ALTERNATES, namely a BLACK runner for you black pack nutters and a greeny-blue fade to go with those greeny claws.

Actually I was going to re-use my black runner teeth reskin and have it in as an "option" along with the black pack Runner, which I would tweak to utilise transparencies.

Just giving the punters a bit of variety.
They're all easy things to do, so to be honest the one I really want to finish is the Predator Fade, but I'd need a proper mesher/skinner person to have a pop at that one. The v model hands need a total overhaul.

Hmm, wouldnt the Marine go better with the Predator? Since theyre supposed to be fast, agile, but if you do make the Predator a fade, maybe you could try making the Acid Rocket a Plasmacaster, Metabolize the Medicomp, and Slash the Wristblades. Just dishin out suggestions..
I have a plasmacaster for acid rocket, I have the acid rocket to match, and I have wristblades.
Just need a mesher/skinner person to make it look like Predator hands and not guffy HL suit ones.
Besides, I get it working for fade and it means someone else could tweak it to marine.
On topic - As it stands I have everything done thats the bones of the pack - all Aliens, all their v weapons, and a hive. No egg, but thats available elsewhere already and there's nothing I could do to really improve on it (other than fixing the strange incongruity of the texture).
The HANDS need remapped and reskinned, ideally to match the body. Once thats done, I can ask permission from the original modeller and release this to you onions.
Someone with Milkshape and the willingness to turn a clenched fist into an open hand so that I can attempt to unwrap it and then find someone to skin it.

Someone with unbelievable patience in unwrapping clenched fists, who can do it and hand it back to me so I can find a skinner

Someone with Milkshape who knows how to UV map so I can hand it to a skinner

Someone who can do the whole thing.
If you fit this criteria, then for the LOVE OF BETSY WILL YOU PRIVATE MESSAGE ME. Those fingers are impossible for me as a beginner in LithUnwrap. I HAVE TRIED. A planar unwrap on the Y axis gives me a decent wrist and then a hellish mess of a clenched fist. There's no bones to animate to straighten the hand out! I CAN DO NOTHING TO THESE MODELS.
Honestly, its not laziness, its just the fact that I can't get my head around UV mapping and I don't have the requisite time to spend on learning from scratch just to modify this set of models........ models which in all likelihood I will not be touching again.
Here's how the main pred model is going. Using other people's models I've managed to put all the p weapons onto the player model - remember, I'm aiming for this to be a fade.
Eagle eyed viewers will notice the use of transparency in order to make the targeter glow a little.
Meanwhile, I've been using an FA model to get hands I can attempt to skin.

Anyhow, you can see an age old problem reasserting itself - the models are floating off the bone, and this time aren't aligned properly to boot.

The heavy pred wasn't skinned properly by its creator. Its hand textures are really parts of the armour, for some reason the UV is on the wrong texture.
Its mostly animated, except for the knees. There's holes all over the model, again I think due to the UV mapping.
The v weapons have had nothing done to them, I think the hands need upscaling. And new skins, of course.
Just keeping people updated, since its Easter and I presume you'd want more news.
As for the ALIENS, they're all good to go, but I want to try and get at least most of the pred stuff ready before I release it.

btw: I got another sprite on my hdd that might look very nice with this pack. Explosion sprite as a replacement for the "acidsplash sprite".
Actually the plasma bolt is already in the predator pack, it should unzip automatically to the MODELS folder.
I did have that explosion sprite (since essentially I've gutted the Plasmacaster that came out a while back) but I didn't want to obscure the aim too much.
If anyone has screenies of that explosion ingame with my pred, then lemme see so I can decide on adding it next pack.
If you're having difficulty with opening and unzipping, all I can tell you is that I used WinRAR and that the readme files are NOT passworded.. you should be able to view them inside the pack. You'll only have problems when you try to EXTRACT.

I can't UV map those hands at all. Its not too bad with the hand part, but the fingers are where it goes nuts.
Anyone fancy the headbending task of UV mapping the hands and then skinning it, finding a skinner, or handing it back to me to hand to a skinner?

I think I'm going to just remove those hands, keep the armbands, put in the NS defaults and reskin them. Then its a matter of animating in notepad.
