This is a pic i drew
Rightiho, i have managed to draw an alright dragon picture in my hand dandy notebook, and then i scaned the pencil form of it onto the PC, and edited it with PSP, and now it looks crap. I'm thinking that i could redeem this by colouring it good, but i have never coloured something on the PC before so could i have some tips?
I would post the picture but it probably is too big for the forums so i will give you the address.

I expected something cool, nicely drawn and smoothly colored in photoshop...

I think you'll need to redraw the whole thing to make it look good...

If the lines weren't so jagged, and it was coloured it might look good

Go layers > New raster layer Change it's opacity to about 93% so you can still see the outlines of the drawing if you color over it. Then Take a brush about size 150 to just roughly cover the area you're coloring and then you can add on that.

- (optional) You can make another image about 400 by 400 pixels as your color palette and then just brush key colors you're using onto that so that if you choose another color for a highlight you can go back to the palette image and grab the color you used as a base to soften it up.

- Then use a smaller brush about 16 in size with 7 opacity and just keep brushing over an area till you feel that it has good highlighting or shading. Keep working with smaller and smaller brushes till you have the level of detail you want. See attached for a rough something i did as an example.

With PSP you have to keep low opacity. Here's a pic of the type of brush i used for highlights on the nose ridges:

Hmm. I have never really coloured anything with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
I should learn that, but I also want to try markers some time.
I've managed to do something with wooden colouring pencils, but it isn't really worth showing.
Inking... I haven't really tried shading with inks yet.
Painting. I hate painting. So messy. And you can't do much details.
Hmm... *babbles to himself*

I think I won't go to colouring yet. I'll just keep shading stuff with pencils.
If you're some time really, I mean _really_ bored, and want to improve your shading skills, like I, try this:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/~gale/drawings/cone.jpg

Think it as of a cone. In total darkness, except one bright light source on the right.
It wasn't all that easy to make it look that good. <.<

And for colouring and drawing tutorials, dragons especially, check this site out Fog_cartoons:

Everybody doesn't start at the same level in drawing. Maybe you could rethink what you said and make usefull comments.

Are you using Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop? If your using PSP I suggest getting PS.

Any way, in PS (thats Photoshop), to change the transparency do this.

Click on layer, then go to new layer.

Then ajust the Opacity, like so...

But personally, for coloring lineart, I like to do it like this.
http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...f=7&t=45874&hl= The Images don't show up tho, so It may be hard for you to understand what to do.
