No Launch File?

Hi just got half life and the latest version of steam souley cos my mate won't shut up about the game <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Trouble is I've installed it a few times now and there doesn't appear to be an executable file to actually run NS. I have the slideshow tut, manual, uninstaller and things like that but no game file.

Because of steam I can't just open halflife and load it through mods. So I'm a bit baffled.
