<div class="IPBDescription">how???</div> alright its been 3 hours and steam has done this 4 times in a row. it takes about 30-40 min sometimes alittle more for it to update, it stops around 80 and freezes, i leave it alone go watch tv, i come back to see that its gone thinking it is done i click steam and what happens? the updating steam platform comes up yet again, is there a way i can get into steam and play a darn game now and then while im out let it update then instead of manditory dl now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Completely uninstall it, and run it once more, and do NOT disturb it. Closing it the hard way "End process, etc" will make it re-analyze its .gcf's for corruption, and that tkaes a long time. Just do what I said and report the results.

    jeah it is a really interesting tool, especially as it doesn't show anything similar as (?) a progress bar....
    2 weeks ago on sunday i spent 2-3 hours just waiting for that steam thing to get ready to play during update .... anything. even halflife or cs.... amazing how slow the internet can be....

    I've had it as well, try closing down steam and re-enter it.

    The entire patch was recalled because it was buggered.. Hopefully your steam should just revert automaticly back to its previous version.     Unfortunately, mine DID patch.

    I lost all gunfire and footstep sounds (they wont play at all)

    I had to reinstall steam....
