<div class="IPBDescription">(Thanks NS!)</div> I enter a game of ns in steam, and after it crashes when i pick a team, windows is left with a permanent white wash. The little sticky saying that it's because i hate my monitor and i told it to do this doens't really help.

WTH's going on?

    look in your Steam\SteamApps\user@email.com\half-life\ns folder for an executable called resetgamma.exe. Run that, problem fixed. Make a shortcut to this file because with NS under steam you'll need to run it often.

    You know, this is tech help, we like helping people

    we don't like listening to peoples uninformed whining about how they can't ready

    the thread you were speaking of whas MonsE's on video screw ups

    try reading it agian:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Gamma/Contrast/'Wash-out'/'White-out' issues when <b>joining</b> NS games<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    not when it crashes

    when it crashes and your desktop is messed up that is simply b/c NS didn't run through its shut down routine (that will get rid of the gamma adjustment), all you have to do is run the program in your NS dir called reset gamma.

    now try asking nicely (lets see if you did it in your first post b/c I bet thats what I am about to read)

    Thanks billcat, that fixed my problem!!!

    This could get annoying, but hey, it's a fix.

    NS dones't look any better than the average mod, so I don't see why it has to mess with system settings. That's a little odd and annoying, but oh well.

    NS actualy should look better then your average mod...

    this might simply be you being more picky then some of us but still....

    make sure you have 32 bit color enabled

    also take a good long look at the models, they are some of the best in HL mods

    then toss in the particle system <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (go stare at a phase gate and you will understand, its just purdy <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
