and temporary internet files
Ok, so internet explorer keeps a folder for temporary internet files. Now lets say I go ahead and click a torrent link. A message comes up saying "cannot find xxxx.torrent" file. If I click to open a .zip file, when it opens, it'll be blank, in essence indicating it couldn't find it either. If however I save these files to desktop without immediately opening, they seem fine. Anyone know wth is going on here?

itll be in C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name Here]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files, in
ME/98 I think it is under C:\windows\profiles or sumthing to that effect.
You could also try reinstalling internet explorer or try using it in another account and see if the problem props up, if it dosnt, time for a new account. Not sure if a service pack will help but you could try installing the latest one if you havent already.
If all else fails, get opera
EDIT: Didnt know you cud get spelling mistakes by copying and pasting from the address bar
Think I found one issue, when I click a link, and it can't find it, lets say xxx.torrent for example, it says:
can't find c:\documents and settings\[name]\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\OT4ROB4F\xxxx.torrent,
but there is no content.ie5\OT4ROB4F subdirectory, it just ends in temporary internet files, and i can't make a new directory.
Where is internet tools/view objects?
oh yeah stupid me, they both use the same temporary internet files folder (smacks self on head).
Still not resolved. I thought the issue was limited to just .zip and .torrent files, but its even happening with media like .avis, its like upon clicking to open a file off the internet rather than clicking to save it somewhere, once its downloaded its not registering as being saved in temporary internet files, and I'm told it can't be found. Whereas if I click to save it somewhere, then it saves to that location and I can double click the file to open. :sigh:
Unless the sites your going to are warez, i really dont know,

Torrents, just like avis or isos are NOT limited to warez files. Sheesh. NS 2.0 was distributed by torrent. A lot of demos are distributed by torrent. Sure, people use it for warez too, but that doesn't make it a warez file.
yea that works, when i use torrents it does something similar(prolly the same), but saving the file and then opening it works.
