I thought Alien, Aliens, and Alien resurection were good, but Alien 3 was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. Did any of you guys feel that way? Or am I just too easily distracted?
Now that I think about the third alien movie... that even doesn´t make sense! We all see in the beginning how she is becoming... erm... pregnant because of one of those facehuggers. Then, the pods get shot into the wide oblivion of space because the ship caught fire. All right, so far I can follow the storyline, but the question is...
How in the world did that dog get an embryo? There was only one facehugger in Ripley´s ship, and we all saw that they die shortly after the "transport". Furthermore, I can´t imagine a facehugger making his way into this high-security prison through all the snow on his way, and there definitely only was one facehugger.

In one version of Aliens, during the Credits, you can hear a FaceHugger crawling everywhere. Basicly this gives you the hint that one got onto the ship. And one gets on Newt and burst from there. I believe that's where the Alien 3 Alien comes from. My question is... why's Ripley blow everything out of the airlock?
Alien - It's blown out the Airlock. Aliens - The Queen's blown out the Airlock. Alien 3 - The Alien's blown up, but I believe someone else does it. Alien: Resurrection - The "Hybrid's" blown out the Airlock.
Consistant scenes betwen the films give the fans something to link the films together...something to take your mind off Sigourney Weaver wearing only under clothes *shudder* <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> .
[edit] That's why Alien 3 sucked!...nothing was getting blown out of an airlock!....the mystery is solved! [end edit]
Alien and Aliens are good...Alien 3 is terrible and Alien Ressurection is okay, but it's extremely dumb and puts the story line to far into the future and makes Ripley really stupid....Yay, she has acid for blood...it makes so much sense! ....not. They could remedy the series by having Ripley retire and making Hicks go back to the planet to beat up some aliens....or something. Or even and emergeny wake-up in cryo-sleep where Ripley...or preferably Newt, were facehugged and Hicks and Ripley have to kill her as an alien or something.
(As long as they don't add any of that, "oh, Newt....don't you remember me?" crap.)
[edit for Alien 3 clarification:] In alien 3 the facehugger effects a dog...I don't know who's dog...or why a dog, but a dog is the one infected...
If I remember correctly (quick summary): there's a fire, the cryo-pods are purged, they land on the Prison; Newt and Hicks die in crash; the android dude has a cameo; the alien chases people around the prison; Ripley kills the alien....somewhere during the movie Ripley got facehugged or something...she jumps into the big smelter place and the alien pops out of her chest before she hits the molten metal.
...or something like that.
[end edit]
Alien will 'r0x0rs your b0x0rs'....in someones words. It brings you back into the past...it's "Hey, dude, Alien just came out, we have to see it in theatres!" time.
lol, the aliens aren't the people they burst from silly; they're parasites that kill the host when they've grown enough to no longer need them =3
Alien 3 was the only film I've ever fallen asleep in; they killed off the last remaining likable characters (ripley was cool but not particularly likeable like hicks or newt) and the rest of the film was filled with a bald ripley and a bunch of convicts you didn't even care about. The only convict in the whole lot that you even had any respect for was the guy with the glasses who takes on the alien in hand-to-hand to stop it escaping from the lead smelting forge intime ^^ I dunno... it just came off as poop.
The dog got impregnated by the facehugger that tried to get newt; unfortunately newt died in the crash before the gestation had really started so the hugger stayed alive looking for better prey until the dog came along. In the comics the impregnation was successful but the alien queen embryo escapes newts body as it floods with water and slips down ripley's throat o.O
Well, as an Alien nut, I've learned to appreicate Alien 3 after repeated watchings. Sure, the beginning premise is absolutely non-sensical. Not only the eggs couldn't be on the Sulaco, the premise that an interstellar starship cannot deal with a simple electrical fire and the so called "emergency escape vehicle" CRASHES into the closest planet killing 75% of its occupants...well...
But if you can get over that, the rest of the movie is cool - but you gotta see it a few times.
Now Resurrection... don't get me started on that piece of crap.
Oh and Aliens has to be the best named sequel ever (hmm, could also be the best sequel ever, but then Empire is up there too) despite the eternal confusion <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Alien 3 was the first Alien movie I saw. Alien 3 has lots of atmosphere, nice photgraphy and directing and good acting. It's really not that bad. The first time I saw 4 I thought it wasn't all that great, but after watching it a couple of times I came to appreciate it. Still think the CG aliens look like crap though. I bought all 4 movies on VHS, but I really need to get the DVD box and a DVD player, those tapes are aging quite a bit. [EDIT] Oh and I'm not going to see it I think. I'll probably spend all my money on CDs which I'll enjoy quite a bit more.
1 and 2 had great amotsphere, 2 and 4 had great action and 4 had great humour ^^ 3 just kinda plodded along and I was surprised at who directed it considering how much I really didn't enjoy it o.O
alien ressurection had to be one of the worst of the 4 the plot was pretty boring, and it got too freaky with all the DNA comabining and alien human thingy and also it wasnt really the "scary" freaky alien anymore, now its just hey look an alien over there boom. UP!. its dead woohoo look another one boom its dead, look there swimming after us, aw they escape, uh oh look it cornered us, oh wai he have 6 pulese rifles and grenade launchers, it went from the scary creepy paranoia feeling to it in ressurection <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
They should have stopped filming at Aliens, or at least used one of the <a href='http://www.corky.net/scripts/alien3.html' target='_blank'>better scripts</a> when making Alien 3. They pretty much ruined the series at Alien 3, IMHO. And don't get me started on Alien Resurrection. Yuck.
The problem with Alien 3 was that it got totally warped out of what it was originally and quite a few people quit, and then people filled their jobs and quit and stuff. Its surprising the final director got it to make sense.
Basically what happened, according to a Channel 4 documentary, was that it was supposed to be set inside a wooden ship that was used by monks but it was decided that American's wouldn't go for it so they changed it. So the original writer quit, and then the director quit.
Then apparently it was really great and they did a preview showing to some Americans who basically said "Too many bald limeys" and so it went through extensive editing.
Disclaimer: I saw this documentary 6 months ago and so my memory of some events may be off but I feel this is a reasonable general idea of what happened.
Anyhow, Alien 3's facehugger is referred to as a Super Facehugger, because its bigger, uglier, and can parasitise two hosts.
The book makes a bit more sense than the film, though. Its a real shame the film got chopped up in the first place though - would have been interesting in a surrealist manner to see a wooden ship.

well badkarma shes in a pod because after "aliens" you see them get into hyper sleep pods or something, btw in alien 3 i know newt died but how did the other marine guy (think it was hicks) die? and how the heck does a facehugger break through glass? i mean in alien it only lands on the front of his helmet, in 3 how does it break through the glass? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
haha necrosis, i remember i bought the jaguar mainly for AvP, and what an exellent game. i still pick it up from time to time.
and when it comes to Alien3, i think and hope the Directors Cut will make it alot better. its said to be as David Fincher wanted it to be..
and its pretty annoying that at the start of Alien3, u see an egg... which is impossible, a facehugger wouldnt be able to carry one i think, and u dont see the queen carry one with her for the battle in Aliens. u get NO hint of it whatsoever in Aliens that it could even have happend. nice way for a movie to be ruined -at the start. and yea, im not gonna say how much i hate Resurrection...jesus that took the cake over movie ruining. just that human-alien queen/king whatever it was at the end, made me leave the cinema in shame. one thing has got my hopes back tho, is that james cameron and ridley scott has talked about teaming up for the next alien movie.
According to the novel, Newt drowned in her cryopod, and when the EEV crashed a strut went through Hicks. Ripley got washed out, and Bishop probably got waterlogged to the point of being virtually nonfunctional (bear in mind he'd been ripped in half, so the salty water probably didn't do much good to his innards, let alone any particulate matter in the sea).
Second, if you watched Alien, you'll have seen a facehugger burn its way into Kane's helmet. It would be no different from a cryopod - the book lists the facehugger as trying to force its way in, breaking the pod, spearing itself on some glass and then bleeding over everything.
Personally Alien 3 needs a big overhaul to bring it into line with the other films. If they cut the x-ray of a facehugger from the start of the film, and leave it with ripley's "nightmare" of being attacked by a drone, then it'd make more sense.
Bishop isn't dead in Alien 3. He has a small appearance where Ripley plugs him into some batteries or something and asks him a couple questions, then he says something like, "unplug me, I'm all beat up and I'm an obsolete model." or something more cinematic.
They should have switche the impaling to Ripley and had Hicks be the main guy. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->.
Bishop's not dead because he wasn't ALIVE in the first place <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
The official report to the company had him listed as nonfunctional - ie full of crap from Fiorina's oceans that low tech prisoners couldn't really fix. Ripley's a flight lieutenant, had some experience patching things together, and thus could make a decent go of fiddling about with him. Reference Alien, where they reanimate Ash's head.
I don't understand why you guys go "was Ripley or Newt the one facehugged!?!!?!!?" when Ripley is the one who has a chestbuster pop out of her and Newt has nothing in her when they do an autopsy...
Second the chestburster is lower down in Ripley, in her uterus, and the original storyboard line, as I've previously stated, was that the chestburster was in Newt, escaped her body while she drowned, then crawled into Ripley to mature further.
The x ray is purposefully ambiguous (IIRC) so that you don't know WHO is facehugged (Hicks, Ripley, Newt).
<!--QuoteBegin--Diablus+Oct 26 2003, 01:45 AM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Diablus @ Oct 26 2003, 01:45 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> yes but how did hicks die? and wait i thought the chestburster was the "alien" running loose all over the place or is that another alien? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I thought Hicks died by having a pole thrust through him.
Ok theres basically five types of aliens (seen in movies, please dont lecture me on variations)
1) The egg... theyre green and slimy...
2) Facehuggers... they crawl out of the eggs... and.. hug you.. in a bad way...
3) Chestburster... self explanatory...
4) Alien.. for lack of a better term (yea I know someone called them like xenoform or somethin like that). These are the big black slimy ones which the chestburster grows into.
4) Queen. She makes eggs.
And the quick rundown of the movies Alien: Ship crashes, facehugger hugs, alien runs around killing people, Ripley blows it out the port, shes only one alive
Aliens: Some years after being in stasis (50 I believe) Ripley is found by The Company, and is sent to a mining facility which has come under attack by the aliens (Some have said this is the same planet as Alien but I don't think it is. Then again its been a while since I saw the series). Alien hive is found, queen impales Bishop teh android, queen gets killed.
Alien 3: Egg hid by queen on ship hatches, I assume the acid blood starts the fire somehow, Newt and Hicks are killed. Later discovered Ripley has a new queen in her. Guy that looks like Bishop shows up, Ripley jumps into big fiery pit of doom.
Alien Resurrection: For some godawful reason Fox resurrects Ripley, though she's not human, she's an alien with Ripley's DNA somehow spliced into it. Aliens onboard science vessel get loose, start doin it like mammals on the discovery channel.. er *cough*... uber baby is born, looks ugly as all heck, he gets sucked through a hole in a transport, I think the end was the planet engulfed in a explosion but that may be another movie I'm thinking of.
<!--QuoteBegin--DOOManiac+Oct 25 2003, 10:54 PM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (DOOManiac @ Oct 25 2003, 10:54 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> I don't understand why you guys go "was Ripley or Newt the one facehugged!?!!?!!?" when Ripley is the one who has a chestbuster pop out of her and Newt has nothing in her when they do an autopsy... <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> It's newt wich has the alien inside her.
