Yup, good show. But now some Otaku's going to come and whine about how's it's terrible in English, bo-who-who. You're problem not ours, we dont' care.

or go get a copy that isn't horibly dubbed....

    SPEAKING of Flcl

/me puts soundtrack from FLCL back on (such great musik)

one of these days I will actualy get around to understanding more of flcl <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

note, flcl is basicaly one long string of comentary/jokes on Japanese pop culture (hey I took a class on anime (with it in it) and got college credit <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    sweet, nice call Liku <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I have seen the subbed version and I'd have to say it is exponentially better than the dub. That doesn't mean the dub is bad, though, by any means.

for me it was the fact that a few of the voices got on my nervs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

note I will stop watching american stuff also if the voices bug me <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (or characters)

Yep, yep, watching it now...okay, it's a commercial now, but I'm still 'watching' it. I have no idea what's going on, despite the fact I watched it yesterday...when the robot ate that guy and started shooting fireballs at the bulbous sack with the lady's head attached...

I don't get the guitar making the boy grow a horn either....I guess I'm not supposed to...

I'd also like to take this time to point out that I like Trigun's dub better than its sub. The voices match the characters unbelievably better in english. Wolfwood and Meryl sound mildly annoying in japanese, also Vash and Wolfwood sound to much alike in Japanese.

FLCL is cool though...that's what's important.

And I would be that Otaku. Waits for Allyourhive? You got Anime boy right here >=D

FLCL is full of japanese idioms and references. Each volume of the DVD release comes a booklet with at least 3 pages full of translation notes. As we all know, most Americans have obviously heard of the old anime series called Ashita No Joe. Wait, you haven't? It translated so well into English though...

Or even word parody like "baka kaba" (Stupid Hippo) translates perfectly into English! And obviously the phonetical word play is the same!

It doesn't matter how good the English dub is, the original language the show was aired in is always the superior language for reasons as the ones I stated above. Because 90% of the time, the original dub contains references to that countries culture and it just doesn't translate well unless you know a lot about it. I obviously don't know enough about japanese culture to not get by without the translation notes for the obscure referenses. Hell I simply need to show you the collective works of Spike Spencer (Shinji, Shinji and Shinji...) to convince you never to listen to a dub again.

    RAWR!

PS. My brand spanking new FLCL Volume 3 came with the uber-sexy box. Did I mention sexy? Oh yes.... I shall post pictures soon.

It's a matter of opinion (and I disagree). Just because he can only do one character doesn't mean he can't do that character well <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

But in the main, yes. When you see "hai!" subtitled as "ok, just a moment, sir", you begin to wonder how terrible it would be dubbed...
