Same reason ppl said onos was overpowerd.
They didnt know how to counter it.
I see onoses get slaughtered all the time, i see jpers get killed alot. I see them boht pwn alot too. The real issue, is skill. I for one have killed a hive with lerks, skulks, and fades before. Its really not that hard, for one the jp can't get u out of a spore cloud before u take more than 10-15 damage (if your trying to solok ill a hive with a jp/shotty and your standing still around skulks u deserve to die)
If you wanna kill a jp/shotgunner, ocs will do the job for you. If they medspam a few lerks iwth the ocs will kill them. The shotgun/jp rush is pointless vs a well defended hive, the point of the shotty/jp rush is to kill the hive before its defended. So if your hive has no ocs and a few aliens it will probably die, seeing as most of the time by 8-10 minutes u can have a shotgun/jper wiht 2-2 ups or better unless u had some setbacks on rine team.
If u say ocs wont do the job for you, its because the placement is horrible. If you have a noob gorge making walls at the entrances the shotgunner will fly over with a halo of medical packs over his head and kill the hive with no problem at all. So try making your gorges spread out your ocs. Remember hives have blind spots if u dont place them right, thats the most likely spot the jpers are gonna be.

Now u said OCs should do the job, OCs were changed in 2.01 to make them less accurate at long range aswell as not being able to shoot fast moving targets. A good JPer makes an easy job of getting past OCs with no fuss the most anoyying thing for a JPer is a lerk, they fly up into the ceilings and u lose all track of them as they vanish with thier buggy hulls.
In short 1.04 JP=2.0 JP just a tiny bit more skill and flare is required.
As as for actually killing power of JP vs. HA: There is no contest. HA are much better for combat than JP's.
I see marine teams grab JP's just to take down hives or something. If you ask me they are misuing the JP. The real power of a JP is speed. You can control the map with ease with a JP. Not only does it give good advantages in fights, but you can literally hunt down every single alien node and kill in within minutes, thus crippling the alien team. In addition to this, you can cap nodes like mad. JP's are a profit making buisiness.
The real power of the JP is not to fight, but for res control. I dunno when people will learn this but hopefully they do soon.
