I think the real reason ONOS are boring to fight is it takes so damn long to get devoured, and its boring. If they removed the sphincter and let you see out of the ONOS spectator style while you were being devoured it would at least be mildly interesting.

The ulitmate end is marines huddled in their base cowering because of the big, bad, evil Onos. True, you do get the odd game where marines own everything but those are few and far between. I wish that something, anything could be done to make it so that the Onos doesn't sap all the fun right out of the game.

I don't know what servers you're playing on, but on the Hamptons, I find it rare to EVER see aliens win. Rambos will just get a few more bullets in before the Onos stomp devours them.
Honestly, if you've no backup or your team can't shoot, then you should learn to cope with devour.
Generally you hear an Onos a mile away. Second, after its first attack EVERYONE will know where it is. If you're all stacked in a big line, then good for the onos. Scatter yourselves, learn to jump the stomp, and above all keep in a team big enough to hamburger an Onos.
I saw someone say that JPs are hard for new players to use if they're caught in a tight corridor. Thats a valuable lesson you learned. Apply it in the future and you won't have the problem again.
ONOS isn't too bad once you've reached tier 2. I just hate it when ONOS appear 7mins into the game. No fun. In it's current form, marines should be rushing aliens for a clear victory, not the other way round. Not long for 2.1 I hope. Heh, I've always wondered how cool it would be if ONOS couldn't devour HA.

Haven't read all of this, but I'm inclined to agree... res **** who save for Onos really do suck the fun out of the game a bit, atleast in pubs. They do have a very valid place in clan matches though, as we always have someone saving for onos right from the start, and if they get to HA it can become vitally neccessary.
That said, downing an onos is a lot of fun too

You are complaining because you lost due to incompetence and a lack of team cohesion, and probably other circumstances you aren't even mentioning. If the aliens win on a 20 person server, they deserve the win, and they were very right to pursue the win with every trick in their bag, including stomp-devour.
So:

Wise words, but let me edit that for you a second though.

You really don't join very good marine teams. Most average games I've seen have one, maybe two onii. If the aliens have three onii or more, you lost a long time ago, GG, recycle base plz. And even with three onii, unless the aliens work as a team, they won't be able to make the final push to crush the last marine base. YOU ARE COMPLAINING BECAUSE THE OTHER TEAM WON AGAINST THE ODDS BY USING THE MEANS AVAILABLE TO THEM.

If it can be done, why not try to save a little res, then think about your options? What I'm saying here is, try to group up and LMG the rhino a couple times. If it isn't working, then yes, maybe you should consider a few HMG-SG-LMG hunterkiller squads. The shottie is a nice toy, but when you have something that can do a similar job for free, go the inexpensive route first. Aliens wither under concentrated fire from anything. I don't expect to be able to counter the most expensive alien for free period, I expect superior teamwork, situational awareness, and exploitation of the onos' weaknesses to be able to do the job sometimes. If the above aren't cutting it, maybe you will need bigger guns. Maybe.
