Question About Cloaking

I generally hate cloaking. Especially when comms don't ping so we can see what we are shooting. However, hearing helps out a lot. Especially gestating and walking sounds. That helps alert me to nearby aliens.

Now, onto my question. Even when they are cloaked, via lvl 3 cloaking or by nearby chambers, I can still see a little motion when they move. It's MUCH harder to see them still, though I can sort of discern them on occasion. Should I be able to see ANY part of them, even if it's only partial pixels? Or should they be completely invisible, as if the model for the aliens was not there?

I run a Radeon 7500 AGP card on a Win 2K machine. I should have plenty of ram and processing power. My video drivers are recent, to the past month or so. So is it just me, or are others able to partially see aliens when they move?

I don't know if it's possible to save a demo, since demos only hold data, not images, so likely if it's just my computer, it would not show on another person's. Then again... I could try print-screening, if possible, to show.

they're just heavily alpha'd out. You can still see them but it's like a really really faded pattern on a set of jeans; you really have to squint to see them. Movement makes them a little easier to spot but if you aren't looking you probably won't spot them

Good. So I'm not cheating, like someone said before. It's a little better when they're walking, since you are given more time, and can surprise them.

Now if they can figure out how to ruin speedhacks... those are my real pet peeve. Ever seen a hive knifed to death in 10 seconds flat?

    Speedhacks seem rare.

I bet steam will kill em.

Dont worry, you're legit. Cloaking only makes aliens 99.9% invisible, and if you know one is nearby, and know common hiding locations, its not impossible to see them. But you really gotta look hard. With MT it makes it very easy to know where an alien stopped moving to cloak.

When moving they are quite easy to spot.

Intersting tip on spotting cloaked aliens: Cloaked aliens still block your view of umbra and spore clouds. So if you see a cloud of spores, then see a section of them disappear, you know you've got a cloaked alien between you and the cloud. It is a VERY cool looking effect.

RT nozzle steam as well... I remember one of my earlier V2 kills when a skulk was in front of the nozzle, cloaked.

Yeah, its probably any special effect gets blocked: smoke/bullet tracers/sparks/fog/etc. The only time i've really noticed it was for spore/umbra clouds.

The upgrade is a less effective cloak than the chambers, if I'm not mistaken.

If you can move around a lightsource, it'll also distort the alien just enough to get a bead on it.

Trick to nailing them is to fill them full of fire as soon as you spot them. Once the game's up, its kill or be killed.
