Too Late To Donate

I heard constellation is getting something special, and I'm just creaming my pants thinking about what it could be. Is it too late to donate to get this "special something?"

I've already decided to donate fifty or sevenity dollers to constellation, I just havnt gotten off my fat butt and done it yet. Even though I would donate, reguardless of what I get (I was going to anyways) I dont wanna miss out on something everyone else is getting because I donated "too late."

..what is this special something that you guys are getting anyways?

Ability to pt ( or play) 2.1 beta(s) starting from last night to it's release.

Also, access to the const forums, and access to the ns pt channel.

Yeah, you should probably donate. It's not too late.

The special thing that the constellation members got was a beta build of 2.1 and their own special forum to chat about it. As for getting in late, I don't think it would be possible. I'm assuming dev team is doing the same thing that was done with the 2.0 test builds and hardcoding in the ids that are allowed to play.
Either way, donate. Donate because you enjoy the game, not because you want some extra goodies. The people who already have donated did so because they enjoy the game. Flayra did this as a way of saying thanks to them, not to get more constellation members. But hey. More money is always good <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

There should be a "reason for donation" part too. As I'm only going to donate due to the considerable amount of effort I've seen from the team since NS began, and that effort had been put into a second playmode. Which I think deserves my money. Just got to wait for bank balance to get onto paypal <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'>

when you pay some one with paypal you can attach anote with it

for this one you ofcourse have to put in your steam/wonID. But also ofcourse a word of thanks and what not are probably apreciated (I know I put one in)

hehe, I donated just before all of this stuff started hapening, however it seems that something messed up (in that I am not getting said emails)

BTW, does any one know exactly how the constellation icon is updated? I am assuming that the wonIDs are included in each patch (ie I should expect mine to show up with 2.1)

The wonID/SteamIDs for Constellation members/playtesters/veterans are stored in a file on the ns.org website. Periodically (every two hours or so) servers download this file and update their local copy of the list. If you run a server, this is what's happening when the "Attempting to contact natural-selection.org..." messages appear in the logs. So, the time before seeing your icon is two hours after the master list is updated, at a minimum. Usually it's a bit longer as Flayra updates it in batches. Also, some servers choose not to display scoreboard icons.

It should update as soon as your wonID is put into the database; servers get a list of what wonIDs get icons from some master database every 15 minutes or so.

Everyone who donated to NS, gj. NS is certainly the exception in the games industry today (where most game companies try to suck you dry of your $$$). Go Flayra!

As for getting the "special something" , I don't see why you won't be able to, considering that all that you technically need is your STEAMid in the database. That is, unless Flayra specifically disallows something like that.

I'm sending my check in the mail tomorrow, 1. because I just found out about Constellation a week or so ago, would of donated sooner. 2. because NS is next to half-life and goldeneye the best game I have ever played, they deserve something for makeing it. 3. I just shipped off my money via paypal with all the important stuffs needed
I would have donated earlier, but the last time I had access to a paypal account I spent the money I had to go to my favorite NS server. Now that was good an all except it changed over to a CS server a week later <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'>

And btw, to answer Ha.ze's post. Yes you can still get the special stuff you get with Constellation, regardless of joining late or early

You get:

- The ability to playtest Beta 2.1 (May take a day or 2 to process)

Well, you don't really need a bank account, you can just register a paypal account, get a number, pay in money to paypals postal giro with your paypal account number written on the form (Which you can do in a postal office) and then - Tada! You have money on your paypal account!

Im in the staff on another webpage to which you can donate, and we dont accept money in the mail because its so fussy (and risky), and paypal can be quite easy, even without a credit card account, if you just explore the options a bit.

I would have sent mine via snail mail, but we didn't have any stamps. I ended up goading my mom into letting me use her credit card and gave the 20 dollars in cash to her. The paypal system was pretty easy to do, really, and wasn't any different from ordering something over the internet. Minus some trouble I had figuring out my WONiD (thanks Flayra for the help!) it was easier than toasting eggo waffles.
