black and white decks are super powerful, white often cancels the negative effects of using black magic (replaces lives used to fuel some spells and protects against stuff like your own plague) but I find my super-fast suicide black n red deck was much more fun =3

    edit: missed a word out ^^;

    i liked my old Fireballs deck , no creatures at all, however i had 4 Mana flares, and all the deal x damage cards you could imagine, also of course Lightning bolt, and some funny enchantments(whenever a creature spell is cast ?ther flash deals 2 dmg to that creature)/gold cards(deal x dmg to all creatures). stuff like that.

    but alas im not sure how well it worked under the normal rules, you see back when i had it we played 'speed'(you can drop all the lands you want per turn, and if you have no card on your hand you can draw 2 cards) - under normal rules i think it would be slow to start up, but then later on i'd return with my mana flares and loads of lands

    The Big Furry Monster and The Cheese Stands Alone will own you all. Here's to Unglued, non sanctioned magic cards.

    oh man, magic... i've been playing off and on since 5th edition boosters were new. I havent bought anything past the scourge set, mainly since I don't know anyone near me who plays, and I don't feel like drivin' 45mins down to a friends house to play a game or two.

    When it comes to decks, I have a Sliver and Dragon fetish. When slivers made a comeback I bought pack after pack building up a nice collection and put the best into my sliver deck. I've loved slivers since they first appeared in tempest, and even then i was collecting them like mad. My dragon deck is fun too. Chronos, Kilnmouth, imperial hellkite, and bladewing the risen carry that deck, and much pummeling is involved by huge, angry dragons. Of course, a nice mono-red burn deck is especially fun in 1on1 battles, and my black&blue 'Bounce and Discard' deck is irritating to play against.

    *continues mumbling something about sliver queens and sliver overlords...*

    heh, i collected that too. Timmy, Power Gamer was cool. Plus, unglued had the coolest land cards in the entire set.

    I think I've still got Urza's spatula of doom around somewhere XD

    I don't remember a spatula of doom, but I do recall Urza's Science Fair Project and Urza's Contact Lenses.

    Magic: The Gathering was a fad or trend for me, I grew interested then after a month I got bored. Thank god, I never collected pokemon cards.

    With the inclusion of miridan (sorry if i spell alot of stuff wrong im not in the mood to figure it out) i feel a lot of new statagies will arise, abusiveness will take place, and old goldies will come back with a kick in the face.

    I however think that the onslaught block was the most inovative and the most contributive wise (cards you can make some really nice decks with...)

    Im calling miridan a booster... one its themed decks sucked, and two, it just seems that its cards serve the purpose of backing up your decks now. But i havnt gotten creative with the cards yet, so my view might change.

    Im also someone who goes on and off with magic, when everyone gets into it, its get lame. Its something my friends and I like to do when we are bored, but nothing we would dish our lives out for.

    Bottom line, good solid cards, fun game, not my life but something i enjoy on the side along with ns of course (note: ns might take up just "a little" more time than i clame it to )

    peace.

    My best deck was a green 'overrun' coupled with quick mana generation. It used giant growths, monsterous growths, symbiosis, overrun and creatures which you could choose to deal damage directly to the opponenet (thorn elemental, pride of lions, lone wolf). It also used a few rampant growths, llanowar elves, birds etc. Oh the pwnage w/ that deck! Won me some good games, usually before turn 4 or 5

    :edit: it is true tho magic has gone to s%$@ now. Those 8th edition cards are ugly as, and their lack of ideas just turns into making cards rediculously overpowered ^.^

    spidermonkey: Now? I played Beta through Homelands, and THAT was when I thought Magic cards were starting to get dull.

    I think the best set was Ice Age, at least through that time period... I actually thought about picking it up again recently, except I don't care enough to spend money on it, and there appears to be a slew of new rules and gameplay moves you can do now that I don't know. ^^;;

    Ahh thats the card i forgot to mention: rancor. The single best magic card, as in most versatile, cheap, effective and common!! My deck had 4

QUOTE

spidermonkey: Now? I played Beta through Homelands, and THAT was when I thought Magic cards were starting to get dull.

    Well, my playing of magic started at tempest, and ended at Urza's legacy. I dont really know the cards before then, . They seemed to over complexify the sets after about mercadian masques (fading? kicker? morph???). Urzas block was a good solid block, no doubt. Tempest was great too (slivers!!!).

    Main reason i stopped collecting because it seemed like such a foolish thing to spend money on, pieces of cardboard.... expensive pieces of cardboard.

    I stopped playing Magic when the stupidity got Tragic (hafhaf), i.e. the people in my class declared that "Circles of Protection are lame and they wouldn't play with anyone having them in their deck". Losers. Just because they wanted to play their all-black decks and couldn't stand their 100 DM+ (DM = Deutsche Mark, yes, way back then) decks being countered with a few basic cards.

    "OMG!!! THEY'VE GOT STRATEGY!!! F4! F4!!!"

    I got really annoyed when someone went out of their way to build an completely anti red & black deck to counter my suicide deck. It cancelled just about everything I did and all he had to do was sit there as my own deck killed me. Still, it was a specialised deck which meant it kinda died if I wasn't using my favourite deck for once =P
