<div class="IPBDescription">Is it a bad thing? should we envy n00bs?</div>This though JUST came to my mind, in between animating for Paroxysm (which luckily enough has kept me very busy) and constantly dreaming about NS (which is.... all the time im not animating <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> ).
Anyways, Some of us fans who have known and followed NS for a long time have obviously learned alot about how NS is going to play etc. by reading and looking at everything and anything we can NS related. So I think its safe to say that we know a great deal about the game (at least all we can without playing it). I know SOME of you have to had memorized what all the aliens look like. So then when we finally do get to play NS (Which, mind you, is WELL worth the wait) we'll certainly know to look above us for bobs and to run when we see tiny's (Level 1 and level 5 aliens respectivley, for those of you newer to the community). And we'll know to use shotguns in close quarters, etc. So, I think, when we see an alien or two run by us we'll go "Hey, a bob. wow."
But then, lets place this same scenario in front of someone who just downloaded NS and never had heard anything of it before.
So the n00b is walking down the same corrider, and sees the same aliens run infront of him, his reaction will most probably be somthing more like "HOLY CRAP.... A FRICKEN THIG JUST JUMPED ONTO THE ROOF AND RAN OVER MY HEAD! AHHHH!"
and as such their reactions to everything else in the mod (are we allowed to just call it a TC yet? <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> ) will probably be somthing along those lines.
So this brings up the final question... is it bad that we know lots about NS before we actually play it? I for one would love to have all my knowledge of NS erased so my first time playing it would be all the better. Ah well, enough ranting.

So we'll be able to more readily identify features. Big deal, any newb that bothers to read the manual will be able to do the same (the whole 0.5% of them that do). So while it will be an advantage to gameplay, I don't believe it will detract from the experience at all.
ohh the suspense....and the doubt seed has been planted.
For those of you who REALLY want to know all there is for the public to know so far, I'm making a comprehensive FAQ. Drop by when it's done, I hope to God it's before release. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
2.Im sorry, I didnt explain what I meant clearly enough. Of course I'll still be freaked out playing as a marine, the game mechanics make it impossible not to. I'm just saying joe n00b over here gets to figure out everything as he goes along like "now i know to run when I see a lvl 5"
oh well, sorry for the misinterpretation (spelling?)
Hmmm.
How insanely stupid would you have to be NOT to run? I think I'd find it rather 'intuitive' to haul ### out of there if a 10 ft' by 14 ft' alien was charging at me.
But thats just me <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I think you'll feel affirmed and satisfied, when you see the game playing the way it should, the way you've been told. There are many games we've played so far that didn't play the way they should, and you'll happily miss out on all the incredibly broken stuff. :)
