Are Turrets Effected By Upgrades?

<div class="IPBDescription">Anything for that matter?</div> I can't find anything in the search button. And i suppose this is sort of a Strategy type question.
Instead of doing research for myself i'd see if anybody else had done the hard work for me.

What do upgrades for armour and weapons actually upgrade. Is it the gun and pistol only? Or the knife as well. Do they do more damage verses aliens but the same constant damage against structures? Finially are turrets upgraded?

If your wondering, this question stems from Stongburg's topic of "Armor Or Weapon Upgrades First? " where I believe that weapon upgrades effect turrets and a skulk will die quick verses a lvl 3 turret with carspace, while slower with a lvl 1 or lvl 0.

I tried it ingame and whenever they seem to get lvl3 turrets, they normally have marines around who might be shooting me. I havn't have proper time to test it fully, but it feels like upgraded turrets kick arse, ungraded do next to nothing.

Someone clear up this up for me?

    All marine weapons except knife are upgraded (lmg, shotgun, pistol, hmg, gl, mine, turret= this is for sure) by same equal percentage...
    Im not sure about electricity, but i guess it's not upgraded.
    Upgraded turrets have even different sound.

    i remember we had this war like... A MILLION TIMES... and every time we-ve resolved that upgrades DONT effect turrets... but that might be different now...

    However i believe that we got it right from flayra that turrets werent effected...

    It's in a state of flux. As of 2.01, and 2.0 I think, turrets are not upgraded with marine weapons. There are also at least some versions that mines don't get upgrades, and I'm not sure which. I'm pretty sure knife has never recieved upgrades. I'm pretty sure welder doesn't either, but it's extremely hard to verify that one.

    turn on mp_drawdamage. You'll notice that turret damage is not effected by upgrades. Armor upgrades aren't worth the cost past 1:

    0 armor: 2 bites
    1 armor: 3 bites (THIS IS A HUGE HELP, TRUST ME!)
    2 armor: 3 bites
    3 armor: 4 bites

    Weapons are more useful past skulks, and thus aren't that great of an early game upgrade.

    0 weapon: 11 LMG shots
    1 weapon: 10 LMG shots
    2-3 weapon 9 LMG shots (see how useless weapon upgrades are useful at first?)

    Against fades and above however, those upgrades are MUCH MUCH more useful as in a group of 3 or 4 marines, those ten or so less bullets add up very fast.

    No, they aren't. It was removed because of aimbotting turrets.

    You'll find that the people who say that turrets are effected by weapon upgrades haven't tested it, and that those who say they aren't have tested it. Draw your own conclusions.

    You can also create your own game to test it. Do this by starting up a game, making sure to enable cheats. Once the game is started, type "sv_cheats 1" in the console (without the quotes). Then join marines. Build a turret farm up. Use "givepoints" in the console for free resources (you might want to bind it to a key). After that, go back to the ready room and join aliens. Use givepoints to get res, then go onos. Run in front of the turret farm several times and see how long it takes to die. Make sure to expose the same amount of you each time. Then, go back to marines and build an arms lab with level 3 weapons upgrades. Go back to aliens, and go onos. Again, time how long it takes to die. That will test the effect of weapon upgrades on turrets, and it only requires one person to do it.

    Or alternatively, build ONE turret then go on the alien team as a skulk, expose yourself to the turrets long enough for it to shoot you once, and compare the damage.

    COuld just build one turret, but not activate it.
    Build an alien chamber in front of the turret.
