Are Turrets Effected By Upgrades?

<div class="IPBDescription">Anything for that matter?</div> I can't find anything in the search button. And i suppose this is sort of a Strategy type question.
Instead of doing research for myself i'd see if anybody else had done the hard work for me.
What do upgrades for armour and weapons actually upgrade. Is it the gun and pistol only? Or the knife as well. Do they do more damage verses aliens but the same constant damage against structures? Finially are turrets upgraded?
If your wondering, this question stems from Stongburg's topic of "Armor Or Weapon Upgrades First? " where I believe that weapon upgrades effect turrets and a skulk will die quick verses a lvl 3 turret with carspace, while slower with a lvl 1 or lvl 0.
I tried it ingame and whenever they seem to get lvl3 turrets, they normally have marines around who might be shooting me. I havn't have proper time to test it fully, but it feels like upgraded turrets kick arse, ungraded do next to nothing.
Someone clear up this up for me?

Im not sure about electricity, but i guess it's not upgraded.
Upgraded turrets have even different sound.
However i believe that we got it right from flayra that turrets werent effected...

0 armor: 2 bites
1 armor: 3 bites (THIS IS A HUGE HELP, TRUST ME!)
2 armor: 3 bites
3 armor: 4 bites
Weapons are more useful past skulks, and thus aren't that great of an early game upgrade.
0 weapon: 11 LMG shots
1 weapon: 10 LMG shots
2-3 weapon 9 LMG shots (see how useless weapon upgrades are useful at first?)
Against fades and above however, those upgrades are MUCH MUCH more useful as in a group of 3 or 4 marines, those ten or so less bullets add up very fast.
Or you could test it..
