Problems With Rad

<div class="IPBDescription">compile crashes</div> I have been having trouble with a recent version of my map. When ever I compile it, the compile goes all the way through the rad process, but crashes at the very end with only an error message.
The error message just says "hl.rad has caused an error", and does not give me any more detail in the log. The only thing I can do is to click "ok", after which the error box disapears and the map is loaded (although full bright).
This error has happend more the once, and I did check for errors before each compile. I used merl's compile tools and am compiling in hammer beta 3.5. The compile properties for rad that I used are:

I know that I am very close to the MAX_MAP_PATCHS error (that's why I am using -nomatrix) and this is what I currently believe is causing the error. However, I have striped away a fair chunk of my map's texture lights but this problem is still present. The map lighting worked fine until after I added a vent network, but even though I have taken out all of the lights in the vent network the error is still there.

but yeah i dont know about your error but my advice is to try the tools mentioned above as tehy will go far beyonf teh limits of half life,

Reducing lights won't reduce your patches. Each face is split into lighting patches, regardless of if they are being lit. To reduce patches, you'll have to scale up faces, make your map smaller, or (this will only work if the majority of your faces are scaled below 1) use the "-notexscale" rad option.
