I dont know why people think that being on the internet magically disspells any and all elitism. Vets get their elitism for being the best, whether or not they playtest makes no difference, and thing in the entire world that involves skill will always have elitism. If you dont like it, you should go play bingo at your local church.

I hate to say this but skill comes with playing a lot and also comes with experience. If you do not have skill and you're naturally good at a game then you're one of few. The rest of us have to play a shitload to get 'skilled.'

HAMBONE will choose clans who are active in scrimmages not CAL. I think people have really messed up the message here. If you're actively scrimming at least once or twice or more a week then he will give you vet status.

My point was that the vet program shouldnt have to do with who is the most skilled greatest ns player, sure people in cal are mostly very good players (thats kinda beside the point)

its more about how long and how devoted to the game u are, the word Vetran implies (Time/Dedication) and Intelegence.

THe skilled players in CAL usually imply that they practice a lot and live and breath just as much as they play ns. I will not believe that some clan that gets 2-0ed every game they play will be able to tell us how to pull off strats or even know about them. They will not know if a game is inbalanced because if you like it or not, you will not notice these things unless you've played for a long time. You're not going to have ANY clan who have played a long time and are not skilled.

We'll be making a big public announcement about all this with the details this week. If you have any questions in the mean-time, head to #findnsscrim and lookup HAMBONE.

Very well put by a fellow veteran. (yes, I am in the new wave of vets coming in) Uranium, put away your retarded stereotype of all vets being jerks please, try to be fair. I mean... you're telling me if you asked to be a veteran, you would reject the idea?
  • CHAMoisCHAMois Join Date: 2003-02-09 Member: 13339Members
playing your CAL matches does not make you active or eligible from what I understand.

You have to regularly be scrimming via #findnsscrim to be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
  • QwertyMcDunkinQwertyMcDunkin Join Date: 2002-10-06 Member: 1443Members
I think a lot of people are missing the point here. The whole point, from my understanding, was to get active clans into the beta to have scrims with other active clans. This way when 2.1 is released publically clan play is balanced, creating a much smoother transition.

rawr i think its great considering most the old clans that were playtesting have died out leaving the vet program kinda in the dust. Now with HAMBONE in the lead and the new bevy of clans to scrim and play matches, I know the vet program will get good things accomplished.

gl in life uranium, jealuosy is bad mojo.

This isnt about being in CAL or being a well known clan. This is about actively testing the beta patches. We dont care if you started your clan a year ago, a month ago, yesterday, or tomorrow. We dont care where your clan is located or what leagues you are currently enrolled in. What we care about is active scrimming and testing in beta builds of Natural Selection. This means that ANYONE can create a team and start playtesting the build as soon as this week. Your clan will be judged on activity and maturity, not skill or teamwork. This is a great opportunity - not only for anyone interested to playtest the builds and get their opinions heard, but also a great opportunity for people to join a clan and experience clan play in a semi-controlled environment without all the drama and nonsense regularly associated with clan play. The program will begin shortly and believe me, you'll know when it happens. In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM or message me on IRC. I can be found in #findnsscrim on gamesnet, and #ns.search on Quakenet. I will also be idling on the enterthegame network shortly.

Flayra, continue supporting this course of action and you may quickly find yourself without allies. Just a heads-up. While the clan scene is deserving of your attention, the public scene is too. Don't forget about that.

That's all I have to say about this in paticular.

I agree all pubbers should hate flayra. im not sure why and have no reasoning to back this up I just think they should.

On another note this whole thing is just and underhanded advertisement drive by lux to get ppl to idle in findnsscrim. I have this on the best authority. My cat told me.

so let me get this strait,

your saying the vetran program, something that has been designed and allways been handed out to clan players.... should now be handed out to people who play on pubs?

how shile we pick it draw straws?

this is rediculous, not only does it make no sence.... theres no point in giving it to pub players as they are unreachable....

people come to the vet program and prove themselvs by showing promis and commitment, the vet program doesnt go seek out them.

Flayra makes games, not mind controll devices.

EDIT: and one more thing: Somone plz lock this thred before it gets totaly flamed out of controll

Oh yes, why not let any nubceak/lamer who can slap a tag on and scrim get the beta sounds like a great idea to me. Flay the community is already shifting into negitivity and this will literaly only tear the community apart.
