From The Director Of House Of The Dead Comes...

<div class="IPBDescription">This director is going to kill the genre</div> His name, Uwe Boll. He has directed House of the Dead, and he just finished Alone in the Dark, now he is setting his eyes on Bloodrayne, Dungeon Siege, and Warcraft.

This guy has NO idea what he is doing. See the below answer from <a href='http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/437/437519p1.html?fromint=1' target='_blank'>this interview</a>:

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><b>8. Who – or what – would you say has had the biggest influence on your career?</b>

The moment I started to raise money for my movies. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Ok, so we have a director who admits he is influenced by MONEY, uses crappy PS graphics in a multi-MILLION dollar movie (I wish I was joking here, but there are actual clips from House of the Dead in the movie), and dosen't actually seem to have played any of the game he bases his movie on. Shiat, if this guy can get paid farking millions to make less then Z grade movies, any one of you has a shot at the academy awards. Im going to go work on my script for HL the movie, if its this easy to get into hollywood theres no reason not to.

Start writing your scripts now for Gabe, for all we know our friend Uwe Boll could be planning a HL movie already, the sooner a better script comes along the better. God, I cannot even begin to imagine how bastardized a HL movie would be in his hands.

/me commands his monkey legions to the typewriters!

We've decided this guy is basically the modern day Ed Wood, in that he truly believes in what he's doing.

That being said, we have decided to suffer through every single one of his films.

It's a tough life, but someone has to do it.

We missed House of the Dead when it was in theaters. We were trying to figure out when the pain should come.

I should add that my cohorts and I enjoy alot of good filmmaking (the AFI Silver theater is close to us, and we go all the time), but we also like to keep ourselves from getting too jaded by art... So we counter with bad cinema. I still have the movie stubs for "Glitter" and "Gigli" in my wallet, because each one of those was so painful, I didn't want any artifacts to pass it by.

You saw both of them? Dear God, how could you! The directors used your $8 to buy crack and write more scripts, and make us experience more pain. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Contrary to popular belief, Glitter was actually worse than Gigli, by merit of Walken's cameo in Gigli.

    but <i>then again</i>..

he makes enough cameos (some way better than others, mind you) that you don't have to suffer sh*tty movies.

minus points for pro/con miscalculations XP

Ah, but you run into a problem... you see, my friend is the biggest walken fan amongst us (he used to be MP*Walken Undead) and he practiced his walkenspeak so it sounds PERFECT over voicecomm. We've seen all the Walkenisms in GOOD films. We've run out. You have to see the bad ones now. You can't be a walken fan if you haven't seen ALL of them, now can you?

That's why we're waiting with baited breath for the pain to come.

Did I mention that my friend gave his brother "Baby Geniuses" for his birthday? The brother wanted to die. No, seriously, he wanted to DIE.

He said he wanted to attempt a LOTR <i>style</i> film based on the warcraft or dungeon siege universes.

I've not seen this or even heard of it 'till now, I will try and watch it and see what its like as a B Movie style Zombie Horror.

LOTR director is Mr Peter Jackson. Top bloke.

As for House of the Dead, I saw the trailor here in Australia and couldn't believe my eyes. I mean, this was absolute fecal matter. And this same guy wants to do Warcraft and Dungeon Siege? My experiance of Dungeon Siege was similar to my Diablo 2 experiances: click click click click click click click...click click click click click... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I would love someone to do a Warcraft movie (actually I'd kill for a Starcraft movie. That game plot just deserves to be made into a movie. Imagine Tassadar at the end on the big screen...man that gives me goosebumps just thinking about it), but not this guy. Someone with actual skill <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I say we start a petition demanding that he keep his grubby hands off of our games, thank you very much.

Almost forgot, while on the subject of HOTD:

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><b>Y'ALL GON' MAKE ME LOSE MAH MIND, UP IN HERE, UP IN HERE</b></span>

    hehehehe

I've decided that I don't care if he "ruins" games. Give him as much material to work with so he can make more crap out of it. It's not like he's going to suddenly make the original material look any better or worse.. the game will still be as good as it was before. Even with the reported Grant Theft Auto Vice City movie starring Ray Liotta and possibly directed by Uwe Boll as well... you all DID hear about that one, right? The point is, it's not going to make the original game bad or kill its reputation as a good game.

I'm more sore about bad/misrepresentative adaptations of comics (From Hell, Road to Perdition, LXG) than that.
