On a lighter note, I do think you're doing some good work on your soldier model, Brig.

    Hey brig
After looking at your comm model ive noticed that the green pouches stand out in a weird way. Since the commander is an officer, i think it would look nicer with a holster ?
Just a suggestion, I still love the model anyways

Well, heres something some of you would be interested in. The Marine as it is, is going to become my Heavy Armor Marine, I might add some Arm plates and stuff, but THIS one is going to become my Light Armor Marine. I havent decided whether Ill use the Beret or the helmet yet.. But the Vest is a Light Assault Vest.

Please pardon my N00bishness, but you said that the now heavy player model is still in beta stages right? I don't mean to be nagging, but are those bugs going to be fixed after you finish your awesome new light marine model?

Sorry if you have already stated this somewhere, reading 57 pages, you can begin to forget things... well, I can, anyways. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

i REALLY love the model BF, but can someone clarify why the eyes appear "stretched"? (unless its intended to look that way)

thx, and keep up the awesome work

the eyes appear round, but the eyelids are kindof in a right-triangle shape. Unless you wanted them to look...well...asian, then im sorry my comments are out of place. Im not trying to be racist here, just clarifying. Thx <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

and please dont flame me i re-wrote this 3 times to try and be politically correct kthx

Hmm, yeah, i see what you mean, They look like that because the eyelids are extremely simple, I think theres about 12 polygons making up both of them.. So, they arent the roundest in the world.

the models look great no beret please. By the way, you can create multiple skins so that all the solgers look different in-game as well.
  • BrigadierWolfBrigadierWolf Join Date: 2003-05-30 Member: 16876Members, Contributor
No, I can only make him be either Black or White.. Well, Technically I can make any Set of Ethnicities, But you can only have two different looking skins at one time.

Heres an updated render. do the eyes look any better?
  • snarkysnarky Join Date: 2003-07-10 Member: 18066Members
    yeah, thats a lot better <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hmmm.. I think the pupils look a bit weird, like they're not focusing right. It seems to me that they're too far apart from each other. A bit disorientating to look at it really. Probablly won't notice it much in game, but still, it's a little detail that could be improved.

also, you might wanna make the head texture so its tileable horizontally, because from the back view, you can see the connection line

The eye spacing is fine anatomically. I think it's just the orientation of the eyes that makes it look a little "lost in space". Try rotating the eyes a little brig so they have a more focused view.
  • JamilJamil Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4829Members
Now that I look at it, it seems the eyes don't have the same orientation. One seems to be pointing in a different direction.

So your HA model is going to be a marine just with arm pads and knee pads ? Nothing like a large mech suit or a heavily armour plated troop in a exo-skeleton ?

The barret would go well with the light or even a comm model, but helmet for sure with the heavy.
