Divx, Avi, Mpeg Recorder ?

I've seen people record counter strike demos in DIVX, AVI, MPEG formats. I'd like to do the same for NS stuff...does anyone know where these tools can be found?

You'll need a lot of hard drive space and a good recorder. People will say Fraps but that only records at crappy resolutions and it doesn't do sounds or something. Need a really fast computer too, and did I mention a LOT of hard drive space?

Not concerned about hardware....plenty of that.

Just trying to find the software that can do this.

Search for 'startmovie demo' on google and some results should come up <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

<a href='http://www.fraps.com/' target='_blank'>Fraps</a> might be what you need.
    It's not free, though.

It's stupid to capture the game in realtime. HL has some nice features: record for demos and startmovie/endmovie to generate bmp files from demos. You can set a frame-rate so it's easy to get slow-motion.
For every frame you get a bmp file, you need huge space on your harddrive.
Anyway, with video mach it's pretty easy to generate an avi from this bmp files and then you can delete them, so you need only 4-5 gigabytes to store the bmps temporary.
<a href='http://www.planetfortress.com/hlmp/hlmp2-beta/news.asp' target='_blank'>Gaming Media Perspective</a> is the best source if you want to make avis from hl demos.
It's pretty common for tfc players (147 tfc avis in the media database compared to 1 NS movie... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->)

2 options: you can either use a screen capture utility to make the movies, or you can have the HL demo converted into a (very) large series of BMPs, which get converted into a movie file by using another proggy.

I can't think of the specifics off the top of my head, so you'll just have to do a little searching.

    Hehehe...

Yes, Fraps is an excellent tool. Records up to 30 FPS, with great sound. And you can record it at any resolution, provided you have the hardware to do that.

Be warned that it dosn't use any compression at all to do the recording. I run most of my games at 1024*768, and 10 minutes of uncompressed footage with sound ran at about 5 GB.
