    Hmm, is scared me too first time I saw it, then I learned that is was a pic of Flay. This is more like him, I've seen him in under so many lights, it seems like he's more than one person...

    hehe, that aint what geek is, geek is the type of person who you don't want to hang around with (they tend to be anoying)
    now then other possible words though are: freak, computer junkie, psycho, gaming junkie etc (none of those realy fit in with geek, well mabey freak) however all of those hit me ;D

    BTW I think we just is ussing diff deffs of geek ;D

    People who ask sheep to wear lipstick can gather in communities. It's not that difficult to believe that the visitors of this site, or at least the majority, consists of geeks and thus has a pretty positive opinion about them.

    First, theres nothing wrong with being a "geek". but we dont have to put anyone into a box, really. I stay away from grouping people into sub groups based on superficial things, cause it aint too many steps away from grouping people based on race. If you don't assoicate with any particular group, and keep your interests diverse, you can be at home around all kinds of people, and people will be comfortable with you. I found this to be true last year, where I really came out of my shell in High school. By saying things like "I'd be the first to admit it, Im a geek", your just averting a barrage of scorn that wouldnt be a problem if people didnt need to classify other people into groups. By callign yourself a geek or a jock or anything for that matter, you are just limiting yourself to activities that that "kind of person" does. The same applies to calling other people that likewise.
        So, have some self esteem, don't pigeon hole yourself into any particular group, keep it all open and try as many things as possible. You'd be amazed at how many barriers melt away when you free yourself of the necessity to group people. A lot of the "caste" system is just held up by the very fact that you believe it exists.
       Sorry if Im coming off sounding like a therapist or an excerpt from a cheesy self help book, but I've spent most of my day so far helping friends through different things and so, I am locked in that frame of mind.

    P.S. this wasnt addressed toward anyone, Im just sharing my view point.

    Oh my god i almost fainted that scared the hell at of me, the picture of flay that jediyoshi has looks 10 times different than what he looked like in the scary picture.     to anyone not yet in the know, geek != nerd.

    I have both geek and non-geek friends.  My brother-in-law is a geek, but my sister is not.  Being a geek only limits you if you buy into what people think being a geek is...

    I consider myself geekish. I spent at least 70% of my waking day on the computer on weekends. I am also a programmer but I don't think I'm socially inept... At least my parents don't think so...
