Not the complete background story
Hi, after weeks without posting, I thought I could finally write up the mission briefing for the map I'm working on. The layout was posted month ago and no screenshots have come so far, since I work out all basics before I add detail and lighting.
This is not the complete background story. Everything leading up to this event is in a far bigger story in the makings. I will post it, when I'm done, may take some time.
I appriciate all comments, please tell me, if you think I went to far with the basic idea.
So, here we go...
"Ladies and Gentleman, you better pack your backpacks tight and grab a bunch of extra ammuntion, because this time the TSA seems to be in serious trouble and wants you to clean up the mess, before all the newspapers get a shot of the mess and we are caught pants down to show the galaxy. To make a little clearer what exactly you're gonna face, here's the report so far."
The holoscreen behind the leutnant springs to brightning life as you wait, eagerly shifting on your TSA military standard chair, welcoming its metal comfort on your tortured behind. A set of pictures showing a small dot in space, first not more than a mere bright spot against the black void, but shortly after revealing a ship of unknown design, glow on the screen. Judging by what you can see, the ship is neither part of the TSA naval assortment, nor part of any fleet you know of... a rather unwelcome feeling overcomes you as one word forms in the depth of your imagination: alien.
"We don't know where it came from or how it managed to get past our surveilance and security setups, but this ship has entered Yamova system half an hour ago. Everybody, from the guys cleaning the hallways up to the chain of command is running around as if somebody had just stolen their phase gate without them noticing. If they had asked me, I would have simply blown that stupid thing out of orbit and back to wherever it came from, but apparently someone very high up has chosen to save up on longe range missiles and decided that investigation and salvaging is more resourceful. So, as of 13:53 today we have a UTHS scenario." The leutnant paces angrily in front of the holoscreen, while a mission briefing pops up right behind him, revealing orders to release your group and and handful of others imidiatly. UTHS... one of the worst things imaginable, Unidentified Thread in Home System. Nobody had expected this to happen. All encounters with alien threads were a fair distance from Yamova System and no known force would even dream of entering the TSA training grounds univited.
"So here is, what we know so far: The ship entered Yamavo System at 13:53. It was then picked up by the short range scanners and a small group of scouts was sent over to investigate. As you may have noticed we have been on high allert since then and all communications was cut down to minimum. The ship did not show any hostile movement so far, but scans and probes that were taken from the hull brought forth clear signs of an alien infestation. So whatever this ship is, it does have those nasty suckers onboard and they want you to clear it out. Another thing that still keeps the specialists guessing about the ship's origin is the fact that the hull is mainly composed of standard alloys used by most of our own ships and a name has been decyphered writen across it: Horizon"
Silent whisper arises behind you as your squadmates start rambling and the first rumours about what may come start to spread.
"You will be deployed in 5 minutes, dock at what the scouts believe to be an airlock or similar and clear the ship of any thread you may find. Fear not, brave frontiersmen, this is our home system, and hell will freeze over, before someone puts shame on us here! Ladies and Gentleman, deploy!"

Now, dragonsblade and sharpsword6, I do appriciae you commenting on the story, but as Freemantle said, this is not much more than spam and I would really like some constructive criticism (is that how its spelled?). And I fear whenever someone enters this thread he will read your nifty one liner comments first and then leave.
I'd really like it, when you drop me some let's say, more "useful" comments. Thanks, anyway...

I will NOT see this degrade into a forum wide flame war. I'll have you banned before that happens, got it?
sharp and dragon: try to make more constructive posts
freemantle: knock off the recrimination
Sorry to but in on your topic with this, messiah. Please fellas, at least take it to PMs, I don't want to have to lock this poor guy's post.

And don't use names, for God's sake. I'm sure most the board feels the same way as you do, but don't go and point fingers like you -BOTH- just did. It only puts you lower than the ones your putting down.
