Ns On Steam

Not Another Clone Topic
I think that introducing NS to Steam will produce a much needed boost in the playerbase. Just the fact that most people who play CS (which has an ENOURMOUS base) will look at the Natural Selection text each time they open up Steam means that it will become better known. I, unlike many people, find that I enjoy something just as much if it goes mainstream. I guess the real purpose of this post is to get your views on the whole thing.

The commerciality of CS boosted it considerably, and I believe that NS is taking a step in the right direction with this one. NSDraft is making an attempt to encourage Clanning, and I really think that Steam wil help in this. More players = more competition.

Don't forget the downsides to more players. More players= more lamers and cheaters, and "n00bs"-of the kind that refuse to learn from anyone else.

Plus since CS is 70% cheats/lamers/tkers/n00bs (etc), that will mean NS will soon have a similar amount (in theory)

Oh please! Take that glass half empty attitude and walk right out the door misters . Anyway, I guess it does mean more lamers and all, but you know what? The core NS players will still play, and with such an awsome community (excluding the drama queens of course), our happy go lucky attitude will prefail!...er prevail!

Lets see hmmm me and doggy and some other kid are the only 2 peeps i know who play hl and hl mods that Don't hack. Me and doggy are the only ones i know that play ns. Soooo um lets just say i wouldn't want anyone else i know to play ns cause 90% of cs,tfc, and dod kids hack .Why i remember my dod and cs days with a server with good hack detection, someone was being banned every 3 minutes. God it was nightmarish.

NS doesn't really need advertising... it's so freaking sweet that word of mouth gets it all over the place.

Since NS is a third party game to steam, I've had trouble launching NS with parameters (mouse acceleration tweaks to improve accuracy): there is no 'properties' option from which to access 'launch options' as in other games. And when i create desktop shortcut, Half-Life (unmodded) is run even though -game ns is in the command line there. I've had to 'waste' my in-steam Half-Life game by goign to its properties>launch options to add the desired parameters, along with -game ns.

Getting NS validated as a real game(? or whatever non-third party is) to Steam should be expedited so that people who use these accuracy-improving measures won't be back down with the masses in terms of FPS skill.

wow you guys dont play cs or tfc that much do you. not that many people hack in cs to make it a problem, if they do, just find another server. in tfc hardly anyone hacks.

but yeah there are a lot of flamers who think they're the shiz in cs, mute is so handy.

I'm rather confused with this... you use things to better your aim? Things that other people dont know about... and that will "[bring you] back down with the masses in terms of FPS skill." This sounds like exploitation if it really has that much of an effect. If thats the case them I'm glad it doesnt work in Steam.

PS: As a not Napalm, maybe I just misred it or whatever. Also, I saw a couple demos of your clan and you a while ago; you kick arse.

From my experience, there are a good many cheaters on CStrike, but very very few on DOD, if any at all.

I'm usually in the top 3 on whatever server i play on in DOD, and i don't cheat. That either means i'm better than the cheaters, or they don't cheat. I know its the latter. Dod got a huge influx of n00bs, llamas, nubcakes, drama queens, bisexuals, and everything else when it went commercial. But then it cleared out. More and more people learned how to play and most of the lamers went elsewhere.

i think the same thing could happen with ns. especially since its so strategy based. its harder to cheat and get away with, and ns has a strong base. i know ns will thrive with the new players, you just have to give it time.

People are unaware of the problem. It's not the cheats that make CS a bad game--if you join any random game, I can probably ensure you there will be no cheaters there.

The problem is probably the community--since CS is such an easy to play game, 13 year olds pick it up and start screaming on voice comm (no idea why, I mean the most you can say is, "Watch out they're under bridge!". But no one needs teamwork in CS, right? ), and that's why everyone hates it. Trust meh you guys.

And, yes, NS to Steam should be a very interesting change. Remember all those friends you haven't seen in a long time--but they can't read text (for some reason ), you can just click up the Friends list, and BAM!
