    Hey there,
the only NS server on steam are the beta 2.1 ones.
You can't play NS 2.0 on steam actually.

As painful as this sounds, I'd recommend doing a clean install of NS, perhaps even a clean install of steam. Icky downloading redundancy.

Oh, there's a tech support forum here too. Go there.

You must have half life installed to play third-party games. The third-party games should then be placed in the half-life directory. Not counter-strike.

    Incorrect.

[edit: Try <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=31&t=49430' target='_blank'>this.</a> I don't really know anything about CS-Retail, but I'd guess there isn't too much difference between the two steams.]

    VERY incorrect.

Its very possible to play on steam bud. Why not try installing to your 'Half-Life' folder, then actually searching for games? Cause I can sure as hell play on those servers.

Uhh....just for your information, NS by default starts with the HL title screen , gets misleading lots of times <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Even worse is that you can choose SP as well, and well....what happens if you clicked on it accidentaly?

And 3rd party games go into Steam's Half-Life folder, not CSr

Try maybe going to the "Public Beta Forum" and download the NSv20.steam installer file that might help.Ya also might want to pick a different folder to install this to.
