Wall Thickness

<div class="IPBDescription">just how thick should it be....</div> Hey another question. Currently my walls are 64 units thick. Now on maps can it be the thinest possible without errors or what? How thick *should* I have my walls, cause having it 64 units thick is making it kinda blocky and "oogly" to work with.

Oh and while Im askin a question, is there a way to take screenshots without having to go into the map IN game? Cause yea I havent even done a Ready Room yet (wanted the feel of my map first) or player spawns yet. Ive just started on one of the hives and havent touched MS and wanted to show some of my fav rooms like Cargo Bay and The Atrium that I surprised look so good.

Anyways yea any help would be appreciated as usual.

as long as your walll is 1 unit thick you should be golden at least in theory the thikcer they are teh more fudge room you get later. personally i do most of mine abour 16 units thick but its a personaly prefrence issue.

you can also just load a version of the map with no game entities except an info_player_start. This loads a readyroom view for your character. The important part is to strip out all func_resource, team_hive, blah blah blah, basically anything ns specific. Then it's a simple f5 to take a screenshot.... bmp's are stored in sierra/half-life/

Most lighting is filtered out, so it doesn't look as nice. BSP view is really only good for looking at architechture.

There's an ancient urban legend which claims that using thicker walls reduces compile times. Say, the difference between 8 units and 32 units.
