Let's Have A Discussion About Ns 2 !

<div class="IPBDescription">Com'mon! Put our heads together!!!</div> It is highly likely that about 2-3 years from now, we should be seeing NS 2. Considering how successful NS is currently, it would probably take Flayra and his team of producer-friends to create NS 2. Until then, lets discuss about it and give suggestions, notes or so on.

Firstly, I suppose that NS 2 should have a whole lot of new maps and certainly, 1 or 2 new alien. Marines I believe, will not get mechs or vehicles as it goes against the original story. However, I do believe Marines should be getting new upgrades, new turrets, new buildings and most certainly, new guns.

I sincerely hope that they would have large maps in NS 2, as in......areas as large as The Great Viaduct in ns_nothing. Heck, TGV was so large, it could support a Tyrannosaur-Rex. I hope that the new maps have lots of areas like it.

I guess aliens should be getting like.........5 abilities right now.

Also, I hope that Flayra would actually create an enormous alien more than 3 times as big as an Onos. Right now, an Onos is only the size of an Rhino. Make a new alien about as large as a T-Rex! Make it cost like.......500 Resource or something and only 1 can be available each time. Give it 3250 / 1200 or something. Make it as slow as an Onos but really big and easy to hit but make it dish out HUGE amounts of damage. Maybe it can be called Giganto.

Here's a possible list of its skills.

1) Slash - 150 damage : The Giganto swings its huge forelegs which are usually used for walking, doing 150 damage to everything it hits and knocking marines away. The knockback effect can be similer to Ono's knockback effect right now when it rams and send a LA flying away.

2) Eat - Instant kill : The Giganto eats up a marine, it can eat up to a max of marines, however, Eat can be rather hard to aim.

3) Bacterium Bomb - The Giganto fires huge Bilebomb-like rockets, doing 80 damage with splash, its double damage against buildings.

4) Warcry - The Giganto roars, giving all nearby aliens including itself, 33% faster run/walk , 25% extra damage , 15% extra armor.

5) Bacterium Eruption - The Giganto releases a red gas around itself which cannot be aimed, all marines take 15 damage per second and all aliens heal at 15/sec. It has an enormous area of effect. Buildings take double damage while its halve damage for Heavy Armors. It lasts for 15 second.

Also, besides Jet Pack or Heavy Armor, marines can possibly have new set of equipment like the "Phase Shift" armor.

Well.....that's all for now, I know all this is probably wishful thinking on my part but lets just discuss about NS 2 so Flayra might actually look into our ideas and advise.

1 thing i really hope is that ns is on its own engine.

I would love to go and buy ns from the store!
Let flayra have a myriad of Programmers,
Then no more bugs and all the weapons we want!!!

    Go ns, and go ns2

Let's not squable over semantics. Obviously he means a completely new version of NS, such as one made as a MOD for half-life 2.

Assuming that NS2 will be made on the HL2 engine (which I hope to God it will), prosumably it would be possible to run battlefield 1942 style games in massively expansive maps with huge wide open area's, not that it fits into the current NS at all, but in that kind of enviornment, why couldn't marine's have vehicals? its not that hard to work into the NS story either, just say the aliens managed to land on a habitable home world, the possibilities for alien evolutions and marine counter weaponary in such a situation would be endless. And there would be absolutly no reason it couldn't still run on a structure/resourse system.

Prolly the coolest thing I can think of is the way cloaking could look in NS2, more realistic water effects applied to characters, imagine the paranoya, you would always think you are seeing things moving if the aliens got cloaking, and there would be no reason to ever uncloak thier whole bodies since they are still slightly visable. so many cool damage effects and stuff would become possible.

Unlikely, I don't think he would care much about our ideas as the limitations of whatever engine will be choosen are not known(hopefully the x-ray engine used by stalker if it is sufficiently MODable or HL2's source engine). I also think he would foremost look at cory's ideas or drawings before digging into the posts in general discussion and suggestions & ideas.

I think that's a very unfitting idea, the onos is hard to move around as it is and NS needs to have tight maps, skulks need to be able to ambush and to duck for cover. Having a monstrous, huge alien would mean that you would have to make maps that accomodate it(which would be bad for all other aliens as large open corridors make them very vunerable) or the huge alien would not be able to move.

Most of those ideas for abillites are far to similar to those of existing aliens.

I think any specific suggestions such as this will be long forgotten in days, certainly by the time NS 2 for is in production.

Let's hope not, if they made their own engine it would take years longer and would doubtfully behave as well as the source engine.

meh, a new engine means full control.
those noobs over at half life, sigh i dont know what they are doing with their time.
Must employ software engineers who havent learn waterfall model yet!
wasnt the original release date 2 years ago?

i dont really care what engine its on as long as it looks cool!

    for HL2?

the original relese date was september, that's 2 months, and that is most likely caused by setbacks relating to steam's online sales system not working properly. For all intenstive pourposes, HL2 is already done, if they're doing anything to it right now I would really doubt it would be more than tweaking unbalanced things and finding glitches that they should fix (we all know how steam turned out when it was first reliesed)

Either way, the HL2 delay is far from the longest delay known (so far at least) to the gaming world, the biggest issue I had with it is the fact that they practically lied about it for no apparent reason, although I suspect that was more due to gabe newell not knowing or understanding the marketing plans for HL2, due to complicated plans involving steam. I firmly belive that it has been ready to ship since it's relise date.

    Addition: Super Cow

A flying cow that has 4 abilitys:

Laser eyes - 1000Dmg Hitscan 50 shots per second.
Bunnys *I mean babblers* - Bunnys shoot out of its cow like utter which attack everything that is known as enemy <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.
Cow Revenge - Takes revenge on all marines alive for eating hamburgers by dealing instint 500 dmg to everyone except the aliens
Finally - Super Cow flying: Basically super cow flying mode makes the cow invincible forever and kills everything in touches.

    um no lagger

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I'm sorry, but I believe you're mistaken. The actual weapon in question is The Really Big Knife. Unlike an ordinary knife, The Really Big Knife is really big - about twice as large as the standard issue weapon, to be exact. It is also very pointy.  When placed in an alien's field of vision, not only does the creature instantly explode in terror, but its panic spreads through the bacterial network to splatter every alien attached. In fact, this wave is so potent that the mindless bacteria itself is swept with fear. Chambers crumble to dust.  Hives shrivel to raisins, which then explode.

Unfortunately, The Even Bigger Knife must be considered a failure. All researchers associated with the project have perished, as have the populations of the continent on which they were based.  Contact has long been lost with the legions of fear-proof androids sent in to destroy the threat, and we can only conclude that they have exploded in some manner not yet know to science.

It's clear to see that this rifle thing just isn't that impressive. At best it is merely a fixture on which to attach the experimental Really Big Bayonet.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

as you can see, your super cow pales in comparison to the plans the NS team has for the marines in the future <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
