    I see a map like this, I can imagine exactly how to make the brushes, how to place the textures...

    and then I open up the VHE and realize, "Oh crud, I have no idea what I'm doing."

    It's like you <i>tell</i> the lights to brighten up the floors and walls, and yet still cast numerous shadows that are dark and yet entirely non-vision-obstructing at the same time.     I agree, actually. Do keep in mind that this map has not been finalized yet. I've been very careful with my limits (primarily brush entity limits, due to the reliance on light overlays), but polycounts are, in most areas, low enough to allow quite a bit more stuff to fill in the gaps. It's not as much a priority as the base layout and general lighting and such, but if time allows before release, I do plan to make a rather heavy detailing pass. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    1. Isnt the Marine Nozzle missing??'

    2. That right hive has only 1 exit, maybe you can ad a alien vent there in case.

    Really nice layout, a great work.

    Looks like the marines have to fight pretty hard to get and hold the few resource nozzles that aren't at hives

    You're right, I did forget to draw in the resource nozzle at the marine spawn. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo--> It's centered in the wider room south of the command center (the yellow dot).

    Playtesting worked fine with the single entrance to the east hive... It was something I was really worried about, but it doesn't actually seem to be a problem. There also will, for Eclipse PT build 4, be an additional nozzle room much closer to marine spawn and perhaps an additional nozzle in the center of the map.

    I think that's a good idea, the marines definitely need more access to nozzles given the relative proximity of the hives and their distance to the marine spawn, and the fact that  they sort of enevelop the resource cluster in the middle...the aliens only need to expand down 1 corridor from the bottom 2 hives to effectively control the central resources, but if the marines grab hold and dig in they can wipe out the 2 lower hives using the central resources

    Thats looking really nice. Tbh the standard of most of the ns maps looks very high.

    Like the architecture a lot.
