So a petabyte would be 1000 terabytes, which is in turn 1000 gigabytes (using SI convention). So, in order to get a petabyte of storage using 200 gigabyte maxtor drives, one would need 5000 drives. A terabyte is much more resonable, requiring only 5 drives.
Ran my Yamaha 8x8x24 CDBurner off of channel 2 of my Promise 100 ATA card for almost three years. Also ran my DVD drive off of it once when I needed the Secondary IDE for something.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah, you can run ATAPI devices on IDE expansion cards. But not on RAID cards, which is what he has. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Yes I shoulda clarrified that, mine is an IDE RAID Card
It's an IDE Card that supports RAID functions. Thus because of the RAID functionality, I lose ATAPI compatability. But then again, I've never experimented with it.... I should later...
