Cant use nero. What else?
Nero is screwed for me, no matter what the version.

It recognises my burner as 40x, then after that every time i try to burn a CD it sees the max as 16x, no matter what version

Maybe its because theyre demos, but since i cant get the full [no way am i paying them money] i need to look for a different cd burning device

any suggestions? [small file size preferred]

You're not going to (legally) get another good burning program for free. Either pay for Nero (It's the best CD burning program out, at the moment. Well worth it.), buy a different program, or deal with it.

Er, i just asked for help with a program, and you act like I made some huge rant?

Obviously you're not helping though, so dont.

Have you had a look on SourceForge?

They usually have some decent Freeware programs on it.

Im rushed too, because i need it to offload stuff for a lan tomorrow, in which i was going to meet with a friend, but now he cant make it, and i dont know anybody else that is going [which is crap... usually i know a few people that go] and i dont know what to do.

so im fairly annoyed, and confused, and rushed

Shouldnt there be driver CD with the burner? That should include atleast basic burner which works.
You could try checking download.com too. Roxio Easy CD is one shot too but thats commercial and I have no idea if theres trial version.

And those "PM me (for ware)" requests remind me of "Coffee company" -ads in magazines

    SourceForge isn't down.

    Are you using XP?

If you are using XP why don't you use the build in CD writer?

The media itself has a max burn speed, and Nero detects this, which is one of its nicer features.

If you have older CDRs, they may be 16X max cdr's... Check this before you go off getting new software.

You do realize that Nero will only let you burn at the CD's highest burn speed right? FFs I burn CD's at 4x be happy with 16.

Beat me to it. I always check the packaging on CDRs before I buy them, make sure they can write at a fast speed.

    I'm wondering what's wrong with 16x. I only get 4. I'm happy with it.

Some people are not happy with that speed. I always write at 40x (never tried lower). It's fast and always works so I'm sticking with it
