<div class="IPBDescription">Grrr</div> Ok, well second time of typing this, since i'm slating my university and a lecturer is occupying the computer next to me (Well, he just walked off for a minute).

The internet access here sucks. All IRC ports are blocked and ontop of that most online comics and such are blocked. There's nothing good on the internet here. Ontop of that, my own personal website is blocked. Christ, they'll block anything.

    etc. emoticons are running out :F= But sure, it sometimes feels like that. Especially when 2/5 guys in the same class know how to hax their way to telnet and irc. (and I aint asking how!)
    Luckily no pages has been blocked in here, and only some classes have closed telnet connection. Though I've been using few office computers which block different categories. I cannot view these forums (theyre part of 'Games' category) but sure I can play astrowars as much I want.

    Opensource comes to your rescue with <a href='http://sourceforge.net/projects/desproxy/' target='_blank'>desproxy</a>, a TCP tunneler that seems kinda easy to use. Don't take my word for it though. I haven't tested it yet. School's out here so I haven't had the chance to try it out in my schools firewalled lab.

    you can always use mac's, most firewalls set up by major organization don't block mac's for some weird reason, our mac's can get past our software firewalls, but the phsyical firewalls are a different story...


    you can always use CGI IRC, or talk to your network manager/administrator/fat guy in suit about getting unrestricted access

    because they are stupid and block off most of the good ports. God, does anyone know of a website/proggie that scans all available ports to see which ones are free?

    [edit] and the worse part is that it's 1200 people...on a single T1, with 500-1000 people downloading P2P stuff at all times.

    You tell me why a university would block slashdot and theregister, especially when they run a lot of IT based courses / degrees?
