Yah, this is all assuming that the comm is always right in where to put his marines. I've had a few situations where I've disobeyed his orders as my experience of the map or situation makes me believe I should be elsewhere. Ususally it works out fine aswell.
We, most of us, gamers, play videogames as a short, sweet escape from reality`s oppresions by governments, other individuals, family hierarchys, mates, pets, and whatever else.
We dont need something that lets other humans control our movement. This goes far beyond the simple "OMG LETS ALL LEASH THE NUBLAR MARINES AND HAVE FUN WATCHING THEM DIE TO SKULKS SINCe THEY CANNOT MOVE HAHAHA". This breaks rights. The right to freedom of movement, of choosing and picking your own battles.
Dont you get it? Having incompetent commanders such as yourself apparently leash me or other players because we want to do what we want to do? You can tell me what to do, but it is MY choice to decide if I want to do it or not. I am not an AI, nor are my fellow rambos. HEAR HEAR. I am human, such as you, and I can very damn well pick my own decisions. If your decisions happen to be along my path, very good, but unless that just hope me or my fellow NSers (HEAR HEAR!) decide to follow you as a leader or not. You dont get it, you can take away our medpacks, our free weapons, our upgrades, our ips....
BUT YOU NEVER WILL TAKE AWAY OUR STANDARD-ISSUE LIGHT MACHINE GUN, PISTOL, KNIFE AND OUR WILL TO SURVIVE, NEVER
A wise man once said. Give your soldiers the hope they will live, and they will die. Give them the knowledge that they will die, and they may very well live. A leader doesnt force his will upon his men. You cant use fear for this is online, and everyone is 7`0, 200 lbs and black belt online.
If you want obedient, braindead soldiers, play rts games, where they follow your every wish. If you want to learn how to deal with humans in conflict, play NS.

For the record, once you taught your creature to eat people and throw his own poop, B&W got old real fast. I won't be wasting my money on the second one.
And another suggestion for the plugin, anyone with the name "Soberana" will automatically be teathered to the underside of the hive, where he shall hang as a piñata.
I disagree with the fact, that through being free to do what we want in games, we seek relief from the real life. Youre not free to do in many games, even if its not a virtual tethering. Most games have some or leash or border to keep from doing things/going to places where youre not supposed to be. I, for my part, thinks its fun to get totally immersed in to whatever gameworld I choose. And if it involves taking orders, I will follow, for the most part, just to make it real and therefore the fun experience I chose to have/be part of.
Imagine, if that leash had been part of NS since 1.0, would any of you had have a problem with that ? Granting that you werent disgusted by that feature and left right away ?
Its no the fact that youre freedom gets a whack, but the fact that it would be a different experience from the original NS youre used to. And as already stated, there a far worse things a misbehaving comm can do then abusing a leash.
I think its a fun idea worth thinking about. my 2 cents

Like the way I tried to be good, then spent two hours of my pathetic life with my creature teaching him four mericles? Ooooh the memories. And teh first time I saw my creature poop? Aww, good times, good times...but then he ate it. Bad times-bad times!

p.s: <3
Doesn't anyone remember that we all started playing this game for fun? Or has that gone completely out the window now?
Now.... where's my trollbeating stick...... Ah, here it is.
** TWAK **
the problem with coding it would be... *how* the comm would manipulate it?
