Alright, that's it. Opera decided to stop downloading at 43%, IE has kicked me out of FilePlanet's waiting line three separate times, and at 18% BitTorrent is complaining that my IP address is no longer registered to download the file.
This Officially Sucks.
[edit]Evidently GameSpy industries hasn't learned enough since I made the post on their forums that got me banned, regarding how the need for advertising was a perfectly fine excuse to have people wait in line, so long as the line system actually functions when their servers get hammered.
Oh my god... this is like... Shadowrun the computer game. It takes place in Seattle... cyberpunk... some sort of disaster in Chicago...
(Awestruck)
Unfortunately I have to run it at 800 x 600 because it runs like CRAP on my system:
GeForce 4 TI 4600
AMD 2800
1024 MB DDR Ram
Even at 800 x 600 the graphics are nothing short of amazing. It has a 'distance blur' effect where things at a distance are hazier, more muddled... dynamic lighting sources... *droll* I've spent the last 20 minutes just looking around a room.
BTW: Am I the only one who thinks the inventory system is ATROCIOUS? A flamethrower is the same size as a smoke grenade... uh huh. (You can only carry 6 things in your inventory)
OK, let there be no mistake that this game is blistering with the potential of being the greatest thing since Pong, but dear god, is this from the Gold version? Considering the fact that the game is to ship within less than two weeks, the amount of obvious bugs is outrageous. How the hell did they miss the one that forces you to rebind all keys every time you reload?

I'm currently in the Gamespy chat (yes, yes, I know, get over with it, I'll uninstall it tomorrow), and got a little help from an Eidos employee: Simply check whether the user.ini file is read-only, as it seems to be flagged for some.

[edit]Not that it matters for me. After all this trouble, I try running it for the first time and it's whining about my GeForce 2 not being capable of 1.1 shaders. Nem: I know you've got similar opinions to mine about DX1, so I'll follow your advice: is this demo worth going out tonight and spending $150-170 on a Raedon 9600 pro?
I'd wait until the full product hits. The demo isn't bad, but compared to the 'play the first level and be totally engulfed' demo of part one, it's a flat joke. Better spend the time looking for a good deal.

I'm very very unimpressed. The control is awful. (Duck toggle anyone?) I had to screw with it for 5 minutes just to get through a window.
The graphics aren't spectacular, expecially considering how slowly they run on recent hardware, and the animations are just as poor as in the first game.
The AI is pathetic. I walked up to a guard and shocked him with the stunning thing (whatever its called). He stood there and looked at me. The next time I talked to him it was just like normal. I did it a few more times, and finally he got mad enough to try to kill me.
The AI doesn't care one bit about walking around with a pistol out in the open. In the first game you had to put your gun away to avoid getting shot, and bringing it out would bring the guards down on you immediately. Now you can't even put your gun away, and they dont care one bit if you walk up to them and point it at their head.
The stunner is completely useless. It renders a guard immoble for a second, but the only way to take him down is to kill him. In the previous game I really liked being able to take down guards comparatively nonviolently by knocking them out.
Sorry to say so, Moultano, but you didn't get it right. You can holster weapons (select the weapon via the mousewheel and press 2nd MB), the fact that you can carry your weapon openly in a run down, crime ridden area makes sense, and as for the AI part - all I know is that he started shooting me instantly. Guess we can chalk one more up for the bugs.
Amen to Esuna's point... how come no matter how high or low I set the game, I still get a chugging 20-odd FPS? My processor is fast enough (Althon 2600+) as is the RAM (512 DDR) and while my GF4 Ti4200 is hardly cutting edge, it's hardly obsolete either. The graphics look lovely, but it's not that enjoyable to play when the controls and inventory are sluggish, and the mouse keeps lagging as my computer dies under the strain. Hopefully such things shall be remedied before release

I couldn't run it. It says something like "The engine requires 1.1 Pixel Shaders to run"

Heaven bless the Deity who created Fileplanet...and it's ability to use DAP.
God you should hear the main theme... I thought the first one rocked... this one is like 1,000x better...

if it runs craptastical on his system...mine is gonna get nailed.

Now we just need the last realistic physics game sequel demol...
