<div class="IPBDescription">..Win2k and XP</div> Well I got a laptop and decided to network it to my main comp for file sharing and sharing the internet connection. Seeing as how I only needed to network to two I the comp an ethernet card and got a crossover cable. Installed it all and recognised it all good. Then I proceed to set up the network....and not good. It no worky.
I have my main PC (the Host) running Win2k pro and the laptop on winXP pro. So the home network wizard is no help as it doesn't run on 2k. I have the connections set up and working but the they do not recognise each other as being on the network.
The 2k machine sends packets to the laptop and it recieves them but the laptops packets don't seem to reach the host.
So obviously I need some help getting it to work.
Changing over the 2k machine to xp would probably work but I'm going to try and avoid that if possible.

Compare IP addresses. I know there's names for em, all the numbers after the last decimal should be different. If any other numbers are different, the IPs are too dissimilar to function together, and your network will reject it like a bad kidney.

Hmmm....I've checked the IP and subnet mask I made sure they were both Identical except for the last number on the IP address .01 and .02

EDIT: After reading my post again I realised it may have been a firewall type app and I was right. Turns out I had PC-cillin disable on start up but that was only the realtime scanning that was off. The firewall was running in the background.
Now I just need to get the internet connection sharing working. Any help would be appreciated.
