Where can I get them?
I'm new to NS mapping, and I was just wondering where I could get the .rad files for the Natural selection wad files. Preferable the ones they use on the official maps.

Not that this helps you out at all, but i alwas prefer to use my own rad file, just makes it easier to define everything how you want it exectly. And i dont use it on every light either, just for sake of looks really.

yeah, I think that's what most people do anyway.

A ns.wad based rad file is posted here You may want to check out the tutorial on that site, it's a rather good one. ns2.wad has no such file at the moment. The problem is that with configuration changes you see a huge difference in the values. So, for instance a 300 light value may mean a lot with dscale 1 but it won't get much mileage with dscale 5 or so. (dscale is used generally to define the edge between light and shadow, with higher numbers resulting in more abrupt changes) In the end one of the better ways i've seen to make these is to use wally, extract the texture, open it up in photoshop (or even paint has this ability I think) and figure out what the color of the light should be and use that as your color with some guesswork as the light value. It isn't perfect but it does give a starting place.

Also, please note the NS newbie mapping forum and search functions. These are both valueable tools for getting your questions answered.
